Chile should have won, that 2nd guy was too quick to shoot, should have taken a bit more time. Oh well penalties.
Lalas on FOX just brought up an interesting point. Will VAR be used on Penalties? Interesting to see if it will be.
VAR failed this time. Chile got robbed. Did I miss something or are four substitutes a thing now? How did Portugal get Gelson Martins on? Will they be in the next world cup?
Ball don't lie. I'm amazed the ref didn't ask for VAR, considering the Chilean attacker got stepped on his foot.
isn't this like the 2nd or third time that Ronaldo missed the chance to kick the ball because it never got to him since everyone before him missed enough to just end the rest of the PK's?
weren't all 3 of Portugal penalties to Bravo's right? LOL. and all 3 were like the same shot, same spot aimed too.
While Germany brought an understrength side to this tournament, I would like a Chile-Germany final. Chile vs. Mexico would have a lot to offer, especially a chance for revenge, but we do not often see Europe vs. South America in FIFA tournaments, other than the World Cup. Moreover, while this German team is, again, not the best German football can provide, it'll be a great test for Chile. Chile won 2 Copa America tournaments and while it has no room for error in the remaining 4 WCQ fixtures CONMEBOL has left, a victory over Germany in the final would consolidate Chile's arrival into the scene as a truly serious contender. Some of Chile's detractors called 2015 a fluke only to watch in dismay as Chile won it again last year. Thus, defeating the World Cup champion after ousting the European champion would make the resume of this Chile NT quite impressive.
The good news for Portugal is that they can now just play Subs in the third Place match and rest, looking forward to next summer as a priority and they have a lot of good youngsters coming in that will reinforce them . As pointed out by Chileno fans their team is not as deep and does not have youngsters who can come in and replace the vets.
