I actually had mixed feelings about him, because he's more a glorified grave robber than an archaeologist. On the other hand, his classes would be HUGE, which is good for departmental funding.

    I think I'm up.
I'll pick Jack Aubrey, of the O'Brian Master and Commander series, for my Mathematics and Naval Combat department. And, yes, he regularly taught higher mathematics to his midshipmen, so he does count as a teacher.

Yeah, he had stopped doing psychology and started teaching. He made a come back to "analyze" Damon's character, but he was really just mentoring him.

For my first pick of round one, I select:

Yoda: Do or do not students, there is no try. I also expect your homework on my desk at 8 am sharp.

I'm surprised Yoda lasted this long.

Pssh...Yoda. Professor Emeritus that's never around the department, only wants his paycheck and has his one favorite student while ignoring the rest. Hardly a good professor in my mind.

Hey, Yoda even takes the time to teach the kids!

At least he doesn't give boring lectures about the layout of various treasure chambers. Pssh! :p

And a University of Chicago professor at that.

Well, modelled on a U of C professor, let's not get carried away. ;)

Well, that's the end of round one, and we have:

    1- Me- John Keating
    2- Gringo- Ms. Burke
    3- Minorthreat- Jim Dixon
    4- Norsk Troll- Jean Brodie
    5- TheSlipperyOne- Freddie Shoop
    6- Howard Zinn- Sean Maguire
    7- IceBlink- Mr. Hand
    8- Anteaters FC- Indiana Jones
    9- bungadiri- Jack Aubrey
    10- Via_Chicago- Yoda

Some great picks so far. I didn't even think about Indiana Jones. Shoop and Brodie were on my short list, and Yoda was one of the three people I was considering for first overall. As it is, the third character I was considering for first overall is still on the board. So the first pick of round two is...

Gotta admit, this draft is turning out more entertaining than I thought it would be. It might end up being the best one yet.

Ismitje's rebel draft continues. Dr. J is working out well as my physical education faculty member - and recruiting for the basketball team means we'll likely make the NCAA tourney (exposure! retention! more donors!).

So on to pick #2 of the rebel draft:

DR. TEETH! Too bad I couldn't get the rest of the Electric Mayhem to come along and form a first rate music department.

(Ismitje: the kid too dumb to know he isn't included!)

I guess MinorThreat's 12 hour clock has expired, so I am up, eh?

Physical as well as mental education is good for the kids, so I'll need a gym teacher. I'll take:

    Coach Norman Dale

With the 5th pick of the 2nd round TSO selects:

    Professor Dave Jennings

He smokes the pot with his students.

With the 6th pick of the second round, I select someone that probably isn't going to be selectable. If people have a problem with this one, then I'll come up with another...

Dr. Frederick Frankenstein from Young Frankenstein. He was a professor at the beginning of the movie, and also became a mentor type figure to the monster later.

Eh, fine by me. The rules in this draft are a bit more relaxed than the other two. This one, to me at least, is more about goofy fun.

With the picks made by GringoTex, that should be completely obvious. :D

I am here. I've been thinking about this one for a while. I was nervous just after the first pick of this round. I know some of you will think I'm nuts... but I choose.................

    Severus Snape

There are several reasons... not the least of which is the fact that (HP#6 spoiler) [result]He's the frickin' Half-blood Prince[/result] and therefore kicks ass at his subject matter... even if it is his old subject. I also think that (HP#6 prediction and spoiler)[result] making him evil is too damned easy... so I think he's completely honorable and faithful to Dumbledore[/result]... he's a good teacher even though he doesn't like HP or his friends. He still does include them in activities.... and no one can argue with the amount of hands-on experiences he gives the kids.

I could go with any of the HP teachers, but felt like everyone would just think I am copying the Albus Dumbledore selection.

Naaah. I thought about that too but went for it anyway. If I have my way, I'll take another too.

Frankly, I didn't even think of Dumbledore... though I look at it now as a great pick. I was going to take Snape when I could. They're all so different.

And I would not go with any of the HP teachers.
