I actually read an interview about him about 2 days ago, don't remember where though. Says he was born in Chula Vista and would be willing to play for the US if we come calling.

Arce's dad has transferred to Chivas, but for anyone who may wonder, Arce Jr is reportedly staying with Xolos.

Not sure if they got a replacement for him but this could mean Corona will be a starter hopefully and more minutes for Arce Jr.

"Club Tijuana has announced its plans for preseason ahead of the 2014 Apertura, and it involves a series of friendlies which will incorporate its second division affiliate, Dorados de Sinaloa.
The team plans to depart Tijuana on June 18, arriving at Isla Navidad, Colima same day, where they'll train before taking on Atlas in Guadalajara in a friendly on June 21... 17 year old Fernando Arce Jr. will travel to Isla Navidad with the first team..."

Seems as though they're going to be quite stacked at the attacking positions, potential loan or sale of Arriola?

If the kid was born in San Diego, then under whatever amendment it is to the US Constitution he is automatically a US citizen. As for how come he was born in San Diego, my guess would be that they were visiting San Diego when his mother went into labour, or that when his mother was due they were in Tijuana and decided to use American hospitals for the delivery; maybe because there was a complication, maybe because they wanted to take all precautions.

I wouldn't be shocked if it was simple as he was born here because his parents live (or at least have a home) here.

Yup lots of rich Tijuanero's live in the San Diego area. Heck even middle class folks try and live here to send their kids to school here.

    XOLOITZCUINTLES IN INTERNATIONAL TOURNAMENT
    Club Tijuana | Liga MX | 07/09/2014
TIJUANA –Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente players Paul Arriola, John Requejo and Fernando Arce Jr. will be part of the United States Under-20 team in the 2014 NTC Invitational tournament... This is Arce Jr.’s first time joining the United States national team at any level. Arce, born in San Diego, Calif. said he is prepared for this chapter in his career.
“This means a lot for me because I’ve worked hard to get here,” said Arce Jr. son of former Xoloitzcuintles and Mexican national team player Fernando Arce. “They had called me up before but didn’t get the chance to go for several reasons. But I have to take advantage of this opportunity. I expect to play. You don’t get these chances all the time. It’s another opportunity for the Xolos to have another national team player.”

In 1996, I was in San Diego delivering babies. I can't tell you how many babies with parents from Tijuana I delivered. It used to get pretty irritating because when I was on call, notoriously they would show up in large numbers in labor having crossed the border to "go shopping" in San Diego. Not as irritating now that some of those boys are paying dividends for USSoccer!

If you can pick up some Russian quickly, come to Miami. There are more Mishas, Vovas and Tanyas being born here than Juans, Joses and Letitias in Tijuana.

And Vova's and Misha's parents pay cash and in large denominations too.

PS. Tijuana lists Arce, Jr at 5'11 1/2" . He certainly looks the part,

PPS. I see the club also picked up Juan Arango, now 34.

Yeah, the coach of Xolos was the former coach of the Venezuelan National Team, so that might have something to do with it.

There are a lot of 2nd and 3rd generation Mexican-American kids in this country who live in a torn household when it comes to which NT to support vs. who their parents support, but this kid playing for our senior NT would really take things up a notch. Interesting situation and a cool storyline.

    Hope he shows well.

Have you seen the McDonalds commercials?

Actually I think the all state mayhem guy (Spanish version) also had a commercial about this.
