Wow. Really proud day to become the second best assist maker of all time in this incredible league. Thanks for all your support. 🙌🏼 pic.twitter.com/Nmy606HSzg— Cesc Fàbregas Soler (@cesc4official) April 26, 2017
As I posted in the closed thread the HMRC statement referred to investigations, raids and arrests in England and France (whose authorities are assisting). To also note a club spokesman from Chelsea admitted HMRC had visited them in connection with the investigation but they were not raided and no arrests were made. The obvious inference here is the transfer activity and contracts of French/African players particularly in relation to the misuse of image rights to reduce tax liabilities. The Barton ban length is outrageous and proves that football is out of touch (see below). In contrast the Scottish FA gave him a one match suspension for breach of their rules. His statement on the matter and the wider issues of betting I in football and the authorities making money from it makes a lot of sense: http://www.joeybarton.com/betting-statement I am glad Taylor faced no extended ban as everyone judged it based solely on the injury. Football is a physical game and a contact sport. Injuries will happen. Anyone who watched the full game would know that numerous "orange card" tackles were made in the game. That being said a two game ban for a tackle that resulted in a leg break compared to what Barton got for betting... Fabregas can settle down given he is/was the primary set-piece taker. Against Teso every time is polemic. I don't know why.
Lol Liga. Meanwhile, ignoring the English games, you have domestic cup semi-final matches involving Bayern v Dortmund and PSG v Monaco on just now.
Bayern having their way with Dortmund. It could be much worse than 2-1. Dortmund would be a very good team if their back line wasn't awful. And by awful I mean AWFUL.
Anyone watching Arsenal vs LC. If so, who's been the better side? It would be huge for us if they dropped points today (knock on wood).
Dortmund's defensive game is why I'm not as down with Tuchel as I was at first. He's very much cut in the same cut as Pep, especially in that regard. Good and fun to watch offensively, but you can't ignore the defensive side so willfully. It's all about balance.
I forgot they were playing today. 0-0 at HT. Yes, it would be very nice to see Wenger drop points again today. But not too many points, as we want him around next season.
Real are already leading Depor 0-2, with barely 20mins played so far. Morata and James on the scoresheet.
Goal and assist for Cavani thus far. Great finish from him. Monaco's woes against their only domestic competition continues to be a major black mark against them.
Depor making it interesting and cutting Real's lead in half. They proceed to miss a golden opportunity after Casilla completely whiffs on a cross, leaving the goal completely open. Real go back the other way, Isco lays it for Marcelo, who crosses for Vasquez, who makes it 1-3, right before the half.
After being dominated for most the game, Dortmund now lead 3-2. Bayern have treated this game like a training match, dicking around in front of goal instead of killing it off, and Dortmund have made them pay.
