For a cost of $200 million, FC Cincinnati is looking to build a stadium in an effort to join the MLS. The franchise has promised a $250 million “legacy investment” to the city, but the cost of an expansion fee for joining the MLS would eat $150 million of that, leaving the city to kick in the remaining $100 million price tag. The concept is based on the Allianz Arena, home of FC Bayern Munich. http://www.newsrecord.org/news/fc-c...cle_ac738894-aedf-11e7-ab0f-c7aa2b9700f1.html
MLS says groundbreaking later this month. https://www.ledger-enquirer.com/news/business/article222890665.html Congrats. We gonna have to get busy to catch-up.
A question from a fellow Ohio soccer fan. Did the state kick in $$ at sone point for the FCC stadium? If so, did they do a full legislative vote or was it done administratively? I heard today, as our city council was unanimously approving $50 million to help with new stadium/development infrastructure & converting the existing stadium site into a training facility/community park sports complex, that the new ownership group (who are plunking down an estimated $645 million themselves), were requesting an additional $45 mil in public funds. We all assume it is the state because the county was already mentioned for their share ($50 mil) and will pass it on 12/12 or 12/18. And I heard the state kicked in for FCC. Correct?
The state kicked in $4 million for the stadium. The city of Cincinnati gave about $35 million, and the county $15 million for the stadium. They only got about $5 million from Milford for the training facility. Not sure what Clermont county kicked in for the training facility.
Yikes. Then I shan't be expecting $45 mil from the state. Hopefully that $45 mil figure is exaggerated ($4 to $5 million?). Still, I would gladly take all the help I can get.

Lots of Crew fans on this board. 23 years and counting for me. I actually live in the Dayton area and work in Cincy so I now have a 2nd favorite team. I’ve been to Music Hall a few times and the Washington Park underground garage is really nice. It’s a great area for a stadium. Congrats all around.
One question for those in the know. What is the condition of the turf at Nippert? When the Crew played there 2 years ago, it was not ideal. Are there any plans to replace it for MLS? I know the new stadium will have grass, but what’s the forecast for the next 2 years?
Less than three hours! Come to our official groundbreaking TODAY at 4 for @fccincinnati's soon-to-be @MLS stadium. http://bit.ly/2zMfUa7

Draft study about affects of stadium noise on Music Hall released. https://www.wcpo.com/news/local-new...rformances-rehearsals-at-music-hall?_amp=true I'm not sure how big the issue is. My first thought was about overlapping events, and scheduling conflicts. From what I can tell, it looks like only Music Hall only has one or two events scheduled that would conflict with a home game at Nippert through the end of May.
Updated stadium rendering. Outside wrap removed, glowing orange light removed, roofing on one side of stadium removed. Orange light removal makes sense since the stadium is in a more residential area rather than on the river. The other two I'm guessing are for cost reduction. There seem to be a lot of people upset about this on social media. As long as there is a nice pitch and I can watch MLS in my city I'm happy.
Found the full article that talks about the new design. https://www-bizjournals-com.cdn.amp...cinnati-scuttles-orange-roof-scales-back.html
There are cars at the stadium site every day, but no work is being done (at least outside) Does anybody know what they are doing?
