    Me.
Please beat lithuania by the way you cheeky monkeys.
    cheers

  7. So Canadian_Supporter, who won the first leg yesterday? I hope it was NSI Runavik and... well I don't know who to cheer for! Let's say a tie at home for Thorshavn and a win for Klaksvik in their home game so we could have a NSI Runavik v KI Klaksvik final. Should be great!

If I remember well, you team is Klaksvik, isn't it?

Yeah, I support Klaksvik in the Faroe Islands and I hope that they can win the Faroese Cup for the second time in three years (I think).

Here are the scores from yesterday...

    1st leg

    NSI 1 GI 1
    - NSI had a 1-0 lead at half, but GI scored a vital away goal in the second half.

    B36 4 KI 1
    - Not a good game at all for KI. They will need a miracle in the return leg to advance to the final. :(

  9. Oh ***************! My two teams are now in a difficult position, so bad!
Hey Canadian_Sopporter, keep smiling, after all a 3-0 win at home for KI Klaksvik would give them a spot un the final! :)

I have another question for you, do you know what are the attendance figures in Faroe Islands (the league, not the national team)? I've searched but couldn't find. I guess you don't know neither but well, maybe you know.

    Thanks for all these updates!

Attendence figures are difficult to find. However, I know games between B36-HB can draw up to 5,000 people. Most clubs probably range any where between 200-1500 for league games.

I went to two Faroese league games in 1999 and the attendence for the first game (IF at B71) was probably about 300. The second game (HB at IF) was close to 1,000.

  11. For me it sounds very great. After all, this "country" is so small, getting these kind of figures is not bad!
B71 plays in Sandur and according to my informations this village has a population of 600 people... drawing 300 for a single game would be absolutely crazy!
From the same web site Fuglafjarð has a population of 1600 inhabitants... almost impossible! Well, maybe HB brings some supporters to their away games!

Were the games good? I mean, the level of play is certainly not very good but what about the ambiance even without that much people? Tell me more!

Hey by the way, is it you that has a site where there are pictures of the Faroe Islands? I really think it's you! Great site, congratulations!

Yes, that is probably my site you are talking about (with pictures from club games etc...).

HB did bring a few hundred supporters. They always have a large fan base to travel to the away games.

The game in Sandoy was interesting, and I didn't think the level of play was that bad. It was interesting because we (the fans) were almost right beside the field. A wooden wall surronds the entire field, and most of the fans lean on the wall when they are watching the game.

The game in Fuglafjarð had a large group of HB fans, which made the game more interesting.

I honestly don't remember much about the games. I have a really bad memory.

    Faroese league --- Round 1

    May 16th

    GI 0 KI 1
    NSI 2 Skala 0
    HB 3 FS Vagar 1
    VB 0 B36 0
    EB/Streymur 2 B68 2

A few surprising results from the first round. I certainly didn't expect KI to come away with a win at Gota today. The 0-0 between VB and B36 is also a little surprising....

Oh yeah, here are the Faroese clubs that will be participating in the 2003/04 European Club Cups

    Champions League --- HB
UEFA Cup --- KI and NSI
    Inter-Toto --- GI

GI will play a team from Moldova in the first round of the Inter-Toto Cup.

Faroese Cup SF --- 2nd leg

    KI 1 B36 7
    (B36 advances 11-2 on agg)

    - I am not sure how KI can win away to GI and then lose by six goals at home.
    - National team player Heðin á Lakjuni andJákup á Borg each scored two goals for B36.

    GI 3 NSI 2
    (GI advances 4-3 on agg)

Final --- July 29th (at Torshavn)
    B36 vs GI

    Round 2

    NSI 2 HB 2
    Skala 0 B68 1
    FS Vagar 1 GI 2
    KI 2 VB 2
    B36 1 EB/Streymur 3

Tough day for the home team (2 ties and 3 losses). What happened to B36? It looks like EB/Streymur could be a team to contend with this season. However, the league season has just started... so it is too early to tell. ;)

    Leading scorers after two rounds

    Rógvi Jacobsen -- HB -- 2 goals
    Magni á Lakjuni -- EB/Streymur -- 2 goals
    Sonni L. Petersen -- NSÍ -- 2 goals
    Birgir Jørgensen -- VB -- 2 goals

  17. I find it weird of seeing EB/Streymur near the top of the table, don't you? Well, before the season I visualized the final ranking and they were something like 8th or 9th!

Thanks for these sites, FRAM's one is definitaly the best of these two. You can even buy a shirt of the team! When you consider that I've NEVER seen a Faroe Islands' national shirt on sell on internet and that FRAM is a 5th divison team that cannot be promoted, WOW!

It is very surprising to see EB/Streymur near the top, but they made a number of key signings during the off season....

Magni á Lakjuni came over from B36
Egil á Bø also signed from B36
Marek Vierzbicki signed from VB Vagur

I think EB/Streymur would do well to qualify for Europe next season.

I didn't know you could buy FRAM shirt on their site? I will have to check it out... jersey seems a little expensive ($130 Canadian)

  19. Yeah, very expensive! I knew that it was around 600 kronor, so around 100$ US, making the exchange you're right, it makes a LOT! A Sweden national jersey would cost me less than that! Geez!

Do you know a site where I can see a Faroe Islands' jersey for sale?

www.subside.co.uk had a Faroese section, but it appears they don't have any on sale. However, I would keep an eye on the site.

If I find any other web page I will let you know.

    Round 3

    HB 3 Skala 0
    GI 1 NSI 1
    VB 2 FS Vagar 3
    EB/Streymur 0 KI 1 :D
    B68 1 B36 0

Again, a couple of interesting results. KI beat an up and coming team (EB/Streymur) 1-0 on the road and B68 defeated B36 at home. However, B36 has certainly been struggling early in the season.

    UEFA Cup news

KI will play either a Danish club, Manchester City, Molde (Nor) or NK Kamen Ingrad in the qualifying round.

NSI Runavik will play a Danish club, Artmedia Petrzalka (Slovakia), NK Olimpija Ljubljana (Slov), Lyn (Norway), or Lens (Fra).

    The draw is tomorrow....

HB Torshavn is entered in the Champions League first qualifying draw which is also tomorrow.

    Faroese League --- Round 5

    HB 5 EB/Streymur 0
    Skala 0 KI 2 :D
    NSI 1 B68 1
    GI 3 VB 0
    FS Vagar 1 B36 4

KI continues their surprising early season form. B36 finally appears to be getting back on track.
