Jeremy Roenick played soccer growing up, but chose ice hockey because there were more professional opportunities available. Probably a common theme among those who grew up long before the U.S. could finally sustain a stable top-flight professional league and the media coverage of foreign competitions it gets today. Can't confirm Summer Glau, but seeing as there's equally tenuous evidence of fandom posted here for other people: one of her sisters was at least a semi-regular in the Riot Squad in the last couple years that I lived in the LA area, and I met the other at a World Cup watch party. Never saw Summer at anything soccer-related, but it's fair to speculate that the whole family may be soccer fans.
As someone who's had a long-time celeb crush on Summer Glau, I would welcome her to the soccer bandwagon. Speaking of long-time celeb crushes, Alyssa Milano in (fittingly) an Inter Milan jersey.
I figure that if both of a celebrity's siblings are definitely soccer fans, and one even stands in a MLS supporters' group, it's not a huge stretch.
