Never really got the Hip. My friends in WNY worship them like Canada. The HIp would sell out the 19,000 seat arena in Buffalo. They'd come across the state and not sell out a 1,000 seat theater. Did like them in 'Men With Brooms'
Can't believe someone hasn't already posted this: Fats Domino, essentially the originator of New Orleans R&B and arguably its most popular artist, and one of the most frequently cited progenitors of rock and roll, has passed at 89. After he survived Katrina, I thought he'd live forever.
The first song I ever played on a jukebox, at four years old, was "Blueberry Hill." I wasn't allowed the use of the Victrola at home yet, so that's the first song I ever chose myself... The Jukebox was at the cafeteria in CC Anderson's Department store in Boise; my mother had taken my sister and I shoe shopping because we were growing so fast. I was fascinated by the jukebox terminal at our table, so my mother gave me a nickel and told me to have at it, and I knew I liked blueberries, so...

With Fats Domino dead all of the top founders of rock and roll (pre 1960 stars) are dead except Little Richard. Did I miss anyone?
It's still young to die, very saddened to hear this. "Back in Black" is arguably the best hard rock album, in great part due to the songwriting of Malcolm. RIP
Mel Tillis - Aug 08, 1932 - Nov 19, 2017 (age 85) Tillis has said over the years that his stuttering started at age 4 after falling ill to malaria. He only became aware that he spoke differently when he went to school and other kids told him he stuttered. Tillis came home and asked his mother if he stuttered and she said, “Yes you do and that is o.k.”

"They say as a child I appeared a little bit wild With all my crazy ideas But I knew what was happening I knew I was a genius... What's so strange when you know That you're a wizard at three I knew that this was meant to be" RIP and bravo...
To quote Mina Harker, "You should be pitiful to him just as you must be pitiful to me when it is my time." He was badly broken and absurdly dangerous and all that, and should never have even dreamed of parole-- but he didn't really break himself. He never had all that much chance of becoming anything but what he did. I don't see him as really strong-willed, just a bit more driven than the collection of weak wills that gravitated to him.. I wouldn't have him on my record label or my island or invite him to my dinner, but I wish him any peace there is for afflicted souls.
From what I've read, Manson was likely a born psychopath with a mother who herself was a total disaster. it's possible that had I been born into those circumstances, I might've turned out less dangerous than he was. But it's just as likely I would've been as bad or worse. Which again, isn't to say he is deserving of leniency in any way.
