I needed a fundraiser for a couple of local charities at my local high school a few years ago...Bob came no questions asked, performed and danced (he was age 88) with the elementary school kids, sat and signed autographs for everyone late into the evening. At the end we raised nearly $5K, basically I had to force a check into his hand. Pure class Bob...may you rest in peace and may there be a baby Grand piano for you to play in heaven.
Henri Michel, aged 70. Cause unknown. Played in the 1978 World Cup for France. Coached France to a gold medal at the 1984 Olympics. Also coached in four World Cups with different teams: 1986 France 1994 Cameroon 1998 Morocco 2006 Ivory Coast
TedX talk: Bob was very clearly from the old school...you just knew he loved making music and sharing the joy. I can still see him in my memory from 2012 dancing with the schoolkids...light as a feather on his feet. The audio here below from 2016 is terrible, but just wanted to share it:
Scott Hutchison was the lead singer of Frightened Rabbits. Dead by apparent suicide. I just found out about this band about 2 months ago. I really love The Midnight Organ Fight.
Just one rabbit (it was originally a nickname he was given as a shy/anxious kid). My wife told me last night that he was missing; the BBC reported this morning that his body was found along the Firth of Forth, which is a place he'd sung about dying in the past. Depression sucks so much.
The Midnight Organ Fight is probably one of my ten desert island albums. So, so good. And just today in the wake of the bad news I learned about his supergroup, Mastersystem. Their one album is very good, certainly recommended if you like Frightened Rabbit. I hope he found peace.
Phillip Roth - one of the very few authors I like reading. Started with Portnoy's Complaint in college. Currently reading 'The Plot Against America' which had a scary insight into the cult of personality of a potential Trump Presidency using Charles Lindberg as the prime figure. I'll let you know how it finishes. https://edition.cnn.com/2018/05/23/..._source=twCNN&utm_content=2018-05-23T08:47:04
He was, I think, one of the inspirations for the lead character in the Deford novel/Dennis Quaid vehicle Everybody's All-American. Since the titular character went to UNC, Charlie Choo Choo Justice probably figured in there too.
I have an Alan Bean print of Alan Shepherd hitting a golfball on the moon. It is signed by the crew of Apollo 14 and by Bean.

A shocker, Bourdain had everything going for him. Loved his trend-setting show and the Les Halles experience. RIP
