ps - this was my personal favorite quote from the thread...This is JUST like how it actually goes down. How did you know?
Re-quoting this bit, I wasn't surprised to see that you can now vote for your favorite Tim Horton's Timbit. Where? On timhorntons.com? Try Facebook.com. This "facebook everywhere" thing is getting tiring. Now, if only we could do something about this "You just started a new thread. Do you want to tell your Facebook friends about Bigsoccer?" popup.
I embrace change and don't oppose trying new things out from time to time but how hard would it have been to open a thread prior to taking action? I am not implying that it shouldn't have been given a go but at the very least a heads up explaining the thought process behind the move would have been nice.
I'd be far more annoyed at being reminded of Tim Horton's than by anything Facebook related, given that we don't have a Tim Horton's here. I'm trying to stay mellow about FB's smelly internet tentacles - I'm hoping that it won't last.
What truly pisses me off about Facebook is that they don't even bother to abide by their own Terms of Service. My wife has probably 30-40 kids at her school that have Facebook accounts. As they're in 4th grade, and second generation immigrants, it's not very likely that the parents gave informed consent for the pages to be created. And I can't count the number of "people" pages that are created by businesses that are still around.
