"This was a big win over a quality opponent" "This proves what we are capable of as a team" "I'm proud of the lads, they showed fight" "I expect this form moving forward as we challenge for top 4" Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, January 26th, 2020, 11:49 AM (EST) *from the predictions of the psychic Nostradumbass*
https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/51243121 Have to keep as many of our top players or the ones prone to injury out of this one. We're stretched as it is, but we've got to think of the bigger picture and not risk losing anyone who could play a significant role for us for the remainder of the season.
There is no doubt he does. He's made it pretty clear he wants to win a trophy (probably thinks it only can help him). That being said, the bigger priority is qualifying for the CL next season, either by getting top 4 in the league or winning the EL. We barely have the squad to focus on 1 competition, let alone 3. If he wants to keep stretching the team the way he has, he'll more than likely fail completely on all fronts. He has a choice to make. Mourinho was facing the same predicament in his season with us and end putting all his eggs in the EL basket (because he got the big picture) at the expense of our league position. It paid off in the end in that season. We had issues with squad depth and injuries that season also, but not on the same level we're experiencing currently.
https://www.espn.com/soccer/manches...ed-in-fa-cup-ruined-pitchtired-legsno-problem Is it so bad that I am hoping just a little that Tranmere does the business
The team I'd hope to see tomorrow. ---------------------Romero -----Dalot---Lindelöf---Jones---Shaw -----------------Matic---Garner ----------------------Mata --------James---Greenwood---Gomes 1221213666948808705 is not a valid tweet id While I can appreciate he's not expected to say otherwise, I really hope it doesn't means he intends to field a strong team tomorrow. The condition of the pitch alone predicates as much, not to mention it's important to rotate whenever possible. The team above could be good enough to get the job done. If it doesn't, then it doesn't. A cup win is always nice but we've got bigger priorities and more important business to tend to.
Traveling squad for today's game: De Gea, Romero, Grant, Wan-Bissaka, Dalot, Jones, Maguire, Lindelof, Bailly, Shaw, Matic, Fred, AP, Gomes, Lingard, Mata, Chong, James, Greenwood, Martial
Going with what looks like a back 3 vs a League One team is an interesting choice. Dalot and Shaw being attacking WBs could be the justification for it. No Gomes in the 18 either... Let's just hope for no injuries to important players.
Kinda hope Tranmere hand us a loss. I want to see what happens when this ship sinks a little further.

There had been rumors that Gomes had been sent home for being late to some team function. Apparently debunked by Stone. Angel Gomes travelled to Tranmere with @ManUtd today but not picked. Am told suggestions he was sent home from training not true.— Simon Stone (@sistoney67) January 26, 2020 The question still remains: why even bother picking him, if he won't even make the matchday squad?
Maguire scores a banger: 0-1. Much needed after a bad start, if we're being honest. 1st goal for him as well with United. Leading by example! ©️@HarryMaguire93 👏pic.twitter.com/RLQkT3gnXk— Manchester United (@ManUtd) January 26, 2020
