And technically we all start dying the moment we're conceived. But some are closer to death than others, no?

it means that he has divined some tea leaves that told him that FJ is done...and he will keep bleating that until it turns out to be the case for sure.

I'm not predicting, I'm informing. Fabio has a lot of mileage even though he's only 31. How many times he's been able to go 90 in the 18/19 season?

MLS is kind of a grinder league with the travel, fixture congestion, summer heat, physical play, etc. I have my doubts that is his thing but maybe a club would be willing to pay him and give it a try.

Fabian came on in the 63rd minute as Gladbach won 1-0 away to Sandhausen in the first round of the German Cup.

During the 2018/2019 season Johnson played 1,010 minutes in the Bundesliga (18 games, 11 starts). His stat line was 1 goal, 1 assist, and yellow card. Transfermarkt has his appearances by position as 7 at right back, 2 at left wing, 2 at right wing, and 2 at right midfield.

Also, Gladbach have a spot in the Europa League group stage this season.

I agree with Suyuntuy that he's basically not fit enough to play many minutes anymore. It's sad because he has skills.

He was pretty good in his half hour, considering it was the first game. He was aggressive and showed some of his quality. He didn't look fast at all, though, which is strange for him.

Thought the same. Wasn't a huge presence the whole time, but looked fine - almost pipped the keeper at least twice. Didn't seem slow but not as quick as usual either.

played his 100th Bundesliga-match for Gladbach on Saturday
    came close to an assist
substituted in both competitive matches so far, though Kramer, Strobl (both back soon, might bring Zakaria back on '8') & Hofmann are/were injured
    coach Rose:
"Fabi is an all-purpose weapon right now. He can play in the diamond on the eight and he can play full-back. I am happy that we have such a player "
"Fabi is a good footballer, two-footed and with pace. From the point of view of a coach this should be ample to call it a good personnel matter."

He's quite good until he gets tired/pained. A sub role this season is probably good, but for his next he'll be looking at retiring or coming to MLS.

Wasn't impressed with FabJo in this game. Again no evidence of pace. And he was in energy conservation mode at all times. Even when the opposing keeper was playing with the ball 6 feet away, he'd glance at it, turn his back, and jog away. I think when it is that easy to hassle, you should always do it, a couple times a year a goal will fall out.

He’s been in energy conservation mode for awhile, imo. I wonder if he is one of those people who is a top athlete but just doesn’t really care about the game all that much. Just the feeling I got from watching him over the years.

Fluff piece in Bild praising Johnson's versatility:

    https://www.bild.de/sport/fussball/...st-gladbachs-allzweckwaffe-64216936.bild.html

EXCEPT FOR GOALKEEPER, HE CAN PLAY ANYWHERE!

Although at the World Cup in Brazil, the US-American was one of the best right-backs of the tournament, he was scheduled by former coach Lucien Favre (61) as a left winger. At that point already, his versatility was evident...

This has not changed after six seasons at Borussia. During the 3: 1 in Mainz Johnson was an all-purpose weapon in the starting eleven -in the midfield diamond, on the left.
