The transfer window is opening next week but as the FA does not communicate on the dates, it's not a certainty. Lincoln Ladies are signing 2 players from Australia Collette McCallum and Laura Alleway
Doncaster Rover Belles have signed Julie-Ann Russell a forward with champions league experience with Peamount United. Chelsea carries on with its puzzling signings : after Katie Sherwood from Bristol come Sophie Ingle from Cardiff and Scottish forward Suzanne Lappin ( at least a quality player who will improve their squad)
Fixture list released Round 1 07/08 April Arsenal Ladies FC v Everton Ladies FC Chelsea Ladies FC v Doncaster Rovers Belles Ladies FC Lincoln Ladies FC v Birmingham City Ladies FC Liverpool Ladies FC v Bristol Academy Women FC
More transfer news with Lincoln signing England U23 forward Precious Hamilton from Doncaster and U19 left back Meaghan Sargeant from Arsenal.
Good news for Arsenal and Everton the other title contenders. Birmingham will be extremely predictable now...
Well it seems clubs are waking up and making moves : Birmingham signs Barber, Torkildsen and Unitt Chelsea signs Susi and Bleazard Liverpool signs kiwi goalie Aroon Clansey
Any chance of WPS players going to England? Would they pay enough? Are they interested in non-English players?
There is a salary cap and a maximum of 4 players per team can be paid between 20k and 30k£ a year... Foreign players are coming into the WSL last 21% of players were not English. This year 2 aussie and 1 kiwi have been signed already. So WPS would be welcomed, if money is available.
Arsenal decides to try to give a chance to other teams by exhausting the players before the season has even started ( Laura Harvey might start the same 11 5 times lol) 5 games in 7 days : Wed Feb 15 v Gillingham Fri Feb 17 v Celtic - 8pm (Training ground) Sat Feb 18 v Rangers - 7pm @ Murray Park Sun Feb 19 v Glasgow City - 2pm @ Petershill Park Tues Feb 21 v Nottingham Forest @corby
Well the FA WSL Conti cup has been announced : 2 groups of 4, 3 games per team top 2 qualify for the semi-final. So far no signings from ex WPS players besides Aluko.
Wow, I was wondering where she'd gone to! As for Arsenal's signings: ouchy ouchy for Gothenburg in the Champions League.
Asante and Press for Gothenburg seems a very valuable pairing for them. Kelly Smith isn't the player she used to be and was roughed up by the French team at the Cyprus Cup ( to my disbelief)
Kelly Smith missed the FA Cup game as she currently injured. Arsenal still put her on the teamsheet Strong rumour about an ex WPS player who won the title last year coming to Arsenal as well.
Well today was the day to get the new team sheets into UEFA for the Champions League so I guess she will be missing that game if she comes.
We will know tomorrow when uefa.com gets updated with all the new squad list and there has been many changes in the 8 teams.
In the end, Gemma managed to get her international clearance on time. So Arsenal signed 3 former players back after the WPS collapse. Liverpool 0 pt -3 Doncaster and Liverpool already in the bottom 2 like last season. Next games : Sa 21/04 Bristol v Lincoln Sun 22/04 Chelsea v Liverpool ;Everton v Birmingham ; Doncaster v Arsenal ( to be postponed due to champions league)
Highlights of day 1 games Some good goals, some bad defending as well. Commentary guy is saying a lot of wrong thing as well which is extremely annoying.
Too bad you don't really see the incident in the Liverpool - Bristol match that lead to the red cards.
If you look in the corner of the screen a 01:47, the Liverpool player goes late and studs up into the Bristol player. The Bristol girl is alledged to have stamped her on the neck, probably as retaliation. McCatty has a 3 games ban while Yorston has a 2 games ban. The Liverpool player is not charged as far as I know. Brooke Chaplen from Everton has a one game ban.
