Frappart is not a good referee, but we all knew that already. Steinhaus should have been appointed as the referee for this as usual; she's the Nigel Owens of women's football.

I was in a conversation at where I work which amounted dedicating time to, mostly, either the WWC or the Gold Cup. That is what Rapinoe was talking about - that type of choice would never be given to the men's WWC. And she is correct.

Steinhaus is injured, sent home already - and Frappart will do fine - there will be a test at some point in the match and I think she'll pass it.

And Bloodworth is not looking all that great so far. Mind, it is only 9th minutes, but still.

What the hell is wrong with that referee? Give a talk and make the "no more" gesture, yes. But there's no way a yellow card can come in early in such a big game.

Meh - if a tackle deserves a card, I say give it.

    Nonsense

This notion that you get a freebie early endangers players.

Morgan said about the tea sipping celebration criticism that it's another double standard against women because men grab their sacks when they celebrate and nobody does anything about it. First, it's not true. I've never seen men grabbing their sacks to celebrate in any sport. Second, several men sports have penalties for unsportsmanlike celebrations so there is no double standard whatsoever regarding this issue. I like the USWNT and cheer for them, but the exacerbated feminism and victim mentality, that everything is a men vs. women issue, is rubbing me the wrong way. And yes, Morgan, mocking the other team when you celebrate is unsportsmanlike and criticizing you for it has nothing to do with sexism. I guess she'd say that I should say unsportswomanlike, and if I don't, I'm a discriminating sexist pig. But these irritating distractions apart, yes, go USA!

10' 0-0 Heath square pass left to Lavelle at 27m box right, one-touch pass down wide right for Heath -- and Spitse slides late through Lavelle's wicket, trips her down. Foul, yellow card on Spitse, for persistence?

11' 0-0 Heath fk at 27m box right, outswings toward spot, cleared.

11' 0-0 Ertz pulls out of a challenge, pokes at ball and sole-blocks Bloodworth's left foottop. Foul.

12' 0-0 Groenen long ground pass from circle top through box top right post for Beerensteyn chasing Sauerbrunn. Naeher calls Sauerbrunn off and slides out to 15m, smothers ball.

16' 0-0 USA longball down wide left for Rapinoe to 4m, van Lunteren slide-blocks cross over endline left.

17' 0-0 Rapinoe left ck, out to box top right post. Heath heads down to O'Hara facing away at 7m 6-right, Dekker chest-bumps her over, no call. Lavelle takes ball down to 1m mid-right, hard ground cross to 3m right post, van Veenendaal dives and blocks with body, covers the rebound.

18' 0-0 Rapinoe chases down box left, Dekker gives a perfect shoulder-challenge from the left, knocks Rapinoe over. No call.

Since Jackie Groenen is a Manchester United girl now, there's no way I'm going against her.
