Ferrari clear the way. is it really going to happen? http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport/formula_one/8412828.stm
Respuesta: Re: F1 2oo9 If it happens, it will be the confirmation of McClaren = UK, Mercedes = Germany, as I predicted.
Only when they want to speak English to be "kakkoi" It is now ! LOL ! Just after Kamoulox... [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8bDmeeGVNvc"]YouTube- kad et olivier kamoulox[/ame] Hmm, not such a great user name...
Schumi and Nico at Mercedes GP, Jenson and Lewis at Mac Laren, Alonso and Massa at Ferrari. Of course, the big name missing is Räikkönen (gone with Citroën in WRC). Sounds almost too good ; I'm really curious to see if the next season will live up to the expectations. Also the new point scoring system http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/motorsport/formula_one/8407119.stm Not as good as mine Well, we have the top 10 = points in common but they failed at building a point system where the the gap grows according to the places. In the FIA's system the gap between 1st and second is the same than between 2nd and 3rd ; for me, there should be a bigger incentive to win, so in this case : 1st = 25 points, 2nd = 19, 3rd = 15.
The diamond brand has finally broken the silence concerning its future in F1. http://www.planet-f1.com/story/0,18954,3213_5775269,00.html Full Renault statement They will also continue to provide Red Bull with engines for the next season. Sooo, looks like they found a way to keep going while cutting the cost for the firm. It will also be possible for them to quit easily in 2012 without paying penalties. sounds like a good move. Note that Renault keeps the ownership of their engine division which is logical given that unlike the Enstone facilities, the motor branch is very close to the headquarters and historically belongs to the firm. It can also be useful for future operations, in F1 or elsewhere. A little bit similar to the Toyota base in Cologne that wasn't sold after the F1 team ceased to exist. Anyway, that makes it quite flexible for the French manufacturer as they will be able to start another project by buying another team like they did with Benetton. But that's not in the foreseeable future since for the time being we will have to accept that they go on like this. Now, the big question...Who will drive for them ? Kubica's manager is not that sure Robert will drive for them in 2010 (but that's a manager's word after all...) and Kobayashi is said to go with Sauber. Apparently, Dutch born Chinese driver Ho-Ping Tung might get it as he tested the R29 lately but I would be surprised. There was a strong rumour about Montagny at the end of the season and then it was Glock, but since Glock has just signed with Virgin...Sato ? But does he have bucks or sponsors ? He just lost a Lotus seat... That must be one of the biggest silly season ever in the sport...

so Mercedes will still supply the engines for McLaren? and the name will remain McLaren-Mercedes? I thought Mercedes sold all their parts of the team.. btw, maybe time to start a new thread for the new season.
The Mac Larens will be powered by Mercedes but you're right, I suppose Mercedes won't be in the full name of the team now. I just copied and pasted the first list from the FIA were Brawn was still Brawn GP (I changed it to Merc GP) and Mac Laren was still Mac Laren - Mercedes. We "traditionally" do that when the fist car pictures are issued in January but we may start a new thread after New Year's day. *** Kobayashi at Sauber, so... A brewing rivalry between newcomers Virgin and Lotus...maybe something to keep us entertained at the back of the grid, which is a good thing actually ! http://formula-one.speedtv.com/article/f1-lotus-virgin-rivalry-heats-up/ I still find it strange that Fernandes displays such views concerning what he thinks about some of his employees, the stewardess...
Mercedes GP issued pictures showing what could be their livery for next year now that they've signed a deal with Petronas (take that Lotus !). Might be taken with a grain of salt... Now the corollary to that is what will the Mac Larens look like ? I can only dream that they get back to the Marlboro scheme but that's unlikely since that brand is still Ferrari's title sponsor (even if the sponsorship had been shared in the past) and the tobacco ad bans in Europe would not help.
The top pic actually reminds of the '94 Pacific. I'd love to see them go to the orange they use in testing. I'll try to dig up a pic...
The orange was a reference to Bruce Mac Laren who was from New Zealand ; orange being the national racing colour for the austral nation (that's what I read). Orange, black and red (vodafone), that could be nice.
