Re: 2009 F1 cars after watching the last race of the '08 season and being sucked in, this might be the first season I watch F1. looking forward to it!
Re: 2009 F1 cars The one good thing is that most cars should look different sort of what the 70 and 80 were about. The BMW so far in testing has to be the oddiest of the bunch.
Re: 2009 F1 cars That narrow rear wing is still ugly as ***. For the rest, Ferrari really did a decent job out of the rules as far as aesthetic is concerned.
Re: 2009 F1 cars WTF!!!! No Hockenheim for 2009?? I was planning to go this year. and the Nürburgring is really out of the way for me.. damn it!!!
Re: 2009 F1 cars I will say this much: The new Renault Livery is going to look sweet; I've seen some shots of it around the web. The BMW F1.09 is not going to look anything like the hybrid they ran a few months prior. Ferrari bleh. Toyota better must be my love for white cars. Maca chunky, but very cleaver.
Re: 2009 F1 cars hopefully another winner. I'm surprised they stayed with the shark fin considering others have left it off there machines.
Re: 2009 F1 cars I cried when I saw the Renault...But it could be crazy fast so we'l see.. BMW TOMORROW
Re: 2009 F1 cars In motion : http://video.eurosport.fr/formule1/saison/2009/la-ferrari-f60-en-piste_vid95007/video.shtml Great sound from the onboard.
I puked ! :-D Indeed, due to the new set of regulations, especially concerning the aero package. No more winglets, chimneys, etc. The bodywork has to be 'pure'. Alow and wide front wing and a (daft looking) narrow and high rear wing. The aim is to provide more racing by improving the grip on the front end of the car so that the single seaters are less affected by the perturbations following their opponent. The goal is also to decrease the amount of aero grip provided notably by the rear wing and give drivers more mechanical grip through the re-introduction of slick tyres. The car should be more predictable and stable under heavy breaking and tight corners or at least provide more of a margin... Basically, drivers may be able to attack more. Let's hope it'll be the fact. Interestingly, BMW while presenting their brand new racer - the F1.09 - allowed a direct comparison with last year's spec (on the right side). Pretty stunning ! Well, this year's BMW is not that different from the interim car showed during the winter testing. Quite simple and straight forward as for now.
BMW should challenge. I haven't seem a team so determined to do so. I mean Toyota and Honda talked about it but BMW seems to be showing it on the track. If Renault can continue the way they ended last season, this season every point will be very important for everyone challenging for the crown (or gold medal). I'm not a big fan of Redbull but I am a fan of Vettel so I'm waiting patiently to see Vettel out pace Webber race in race out.
I like the new cars. I stopped watching F1 in the 90s, and following it after M. Schumacher quit, but I may start watching again this season.
Main regulation changes for 2009 : http://www.formula1.com/inside_f1/rules_and_regulations/sporting_regulations/8692/
Renault= Yuck... BMW a lot of detail work in the fine areas..Expect a different front wing to some extent also so I'm hearing from guys who were at the release. Also so far 2 days of testing zero problems. Newey and RedBull have yet to show their car I'm curious what the great inovator will come up with next.
Re: 2009 F1 cars Favorite paintjob so far. In recent years, it seems some F1 teams had their cars too cluttered with names, which is a good problem to have, but Williams this year went with a nice refined dark blue look.
They have by far the thickest nose, as opposed to Ferrari with the thinnest. And as far as the sidepods, no wonder it failed the crash test.
