He's automatically protected - an HG player not on the senior roster.

Can I just say I'm glad (no pun intended) that some of you guys understand all the rules so I don't have to figure them out on my own!

Really? How could you debate between keeping Ruiz vs Baird?!?! Ruiz hasnt shown anything yet. Baird bagged 8 goals along with 5ish assists (I am not looking at the stats) and was rookie of the year. Ruiz came in and we gave up 2 goal leads. Plus Ruiz costs more than Baird and Ljke Mullholland. Shoooo.

Wait, you're not looking at stats and you low-ball him with 5ish assists? I would've gone with 8 just to make him look that much better.

I just looked up his stats. He had 48 assists this year.

I just looked at his stats. Sure nuff 8 goals and 5 assists. Let's keep Ruiz who had 0 goals and 0 assists. Not to mention that Ruiz made $201,000 and Baird made $54,000 in 2018. Fiddlesticks and pooh nuggets.

This whole argument is hilarious because, as KIR pointed out, Baird is automatically exempt from the draft as a HG player not on the first team roster (or whatever connotation they use). FCC cannot pick him. Stop freaking out and making up stats for our 21 year old striker of destiny who bagged 12 goals and 78 assists on a salary of corner bakery side salads and the occasional hot dog.

You just had to bring up the hot dogs.
I think the real question is how many free straws did he get.

Careful guys, too many of these discussions and RSL will have to vacate all of BYU Basketballs wins too.

If I may derail this thread even further, am I the only one who finds it funny that the Utah Women's basketball team has a player with the last name of Provo?

RSL's protected list is exactly who we thought it would be.

Believe that just leaves Putna, Besler, Horwath, Henley, and Allen exposed.

If I were picking.... I think my 5 would be Ibeagha, Ndam, Vasquez... then I'm not sure. I could see Vom Steeg, or Eric Miller, or Dockal, or Brillant?

If FCC are looking for a young goalkeeper to be third on their depth chart, I'd be shocked if they chose Putna over Vom Steeg.

I was worried that we would lose a starting CB when we left Besler unprotected. /s

the FCC forward group is, if I'm being honest, already quite a bit better than ours. Certainly a lot more athletic.

That's pretty easy when you have actual forwards on your team :)

Cincinnati now has our international roster spot. (I'm correct to recall that it was Colorado that had it, right?)

I doubt Colorado traded it permanently. @JasonMa - clarification?

Lots of international slots go for a year or two. It's the permanence that was so crazy.

Its a one year trade to Cincinnati (who turned around and traded it to Vancouver for Waston).

The only international roster spot trades that extend beyond the end of 2019 are the permanent one from Salt Lake to Colorado (Gregorio), the permanent one from Houston to RBNY (allocation money), and the one from Colorado to Vancouver that expires after the 2031 season (Nyassi).

We can talk about you getting the permanent one back once we get to 2032 and we get ours back from Vancouver. :D

Why is it all these other GMs are smarter about their international spots trades?
