Update. The word now is that Kreis might be hired to be an assistant on Kinnear’s staff, not the other way around. Stay tuned.....
Maybe the Galaxy will have two coaches, Kreis and Kinnear, and they will swap head coaching duties every other day, kind of like what the Romans did against Hannibal at Cannae. (Cliff's Notes Version: It was a disaster). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Cannae
wtf are the Galaxy doing? You've got LAFC with a damn good coach and a pretty good roster and this is how you respond? By getting an MLS 1.0 and MLS 2.0 coach?
Looks like Emery Welshman is going to get a third shot in MLS. Excited to get back into @MLS with @fccincinnati Through all the ups and downs I really appreciate everyones love and support. Looking forward to a big 2019 💪🏾🔸🔹 https://t.co/aUUrUW6tm7— Emery Welshman (@Esawelsh) December 10, 2018
Poop! I thought that Waibel was going to save his job by negotiating Zlatan's transfer to RSL for some Garberbux and a pocket full of magic beans.
you assume Waibel is still doing any negotiating for RSL. An interesting part of the story about moving players up from the academy for me was that Waibel wasn't listed at all. Elliott Fall looks to be the guy doing the deals right now. At least that is how it was reported to the public.
Should RSL's international slot be thought of as a 'former player'? It was traded from Colorado to Cincinnati today.
Some more #MLS news: Hearing Weston FC technical director Victor Pastora and former RSL star Javi Morales are set to join Inter Miami academy in the coming weeks. #InterMiamiCF— Paul Tenorio (@PaulTenorio) December 11, 2018
The Javi treatment just keeps getting worse. He had ZERO intentions to go elsewhere once retired. He stated that multiple times. Now he's going to be part of another teams academy setup. Such a horrible situation for Waibel. When Santi becomes Miami's first homegrown signing I'm going to be livid
Ned Grabavoy named Technical Director for the Timbers, responsible for "scouting, identification and evaluation of players, oversee pathways from the academy to T2 and the first team. He will also work with first-team technical staff and develop key markets for recruiting players."
Imagine that pathway from academy to USL team to first team. What did no one ever think of that on this board for RSL. /s It pains me as a fan of this team continues to trip over execution on the basics
Rsl definitely falls short in this regard, but let's not pretend that Portland is a shining example. Their youth to first team path is notoriously bad.
From August, an interview with Kreis about his being fired from Orlando. Sad read, really. https://www.prosoccerusa.com/mls/orlando-city-sc/orlando-city-jason-kreis-mike-bianchi-2/
More Jason Kries news. Spence Checkets has a podcast, Reality Check, after having to resign from his radio gig from another DUI. Wonder if they both offer a critique of RSL now front office
Cliffs? Mike Bianchi is a terrible journalist and many years ago I made a vow to never click a link to any of his work.
Downloaded last night and plan on listening to it during my drive today. I'd promise to give a report, but I can't guarantee I'll fully listen to it. I tend to let my mind wander while listening to podcasts....
Apologies left out Jason was the guest and promise to discuss their thoughts on RSL then or now. Download but have not listen to it yet but will later today
I typed this out on a phone so I apologize for all the mistakes. Notes for those that do not want to listen. Nothing major new Kries says he traded Jeff Cunningham because he was not a team player, too selfish playing style, and did not into Kries playing style. Kries had to explain to dave checketts where the goals would come from after trading top goal scorer. LAG asked about trade for Chris Kline because it wanted veteran players to surround Beckham. Kries said he would only do it for two you players, robbie and nathan. Kries wife and he were best friends with Kline and wife. Kries wife didnt talk to him for trading his and her best friends. Spence overheard a conversation between jason and chris and another playing discussion about the team neaded a change or the season would be gone. He told his dad and that day jason was offered the HC job. Originally Dave wanted kries to be GM some day and Jason said he was more interested in coaching. Dave told him great players never make good HC. Jason said he wasnt a great natural player just a student of the sport. The plan before was kries to be AC under Ellinger for a couple years and ellinger would become gm and kries HC. On why Kries left RSL. Kries always wanted change and challenges and never thought he would be a one team HC. Once dave left he thought the change would happen sooner. Thought contact negotiations with RSL was more difficult the it needed. Opportunity with city came up and he accepted. With Orlando thought agreed with team the rebuild would take a three year process based off RSL and other experience. Thought he wasnt given long enough.
