Over the last decade, they've been the most successful Salvadoran club domestically, making CCL appearances most seasons, more often than anyone else.
I guess the moral of the story is if you tell the police that "honest-to-goodness officer, I swear on my sainted mother's head, I thought she was over 18", you can beat the rap. I don't have Twitter, so if you could give the Cliff's Notes version, it would be much appreciated.
I can't get to twitter at work but essentially he is saying there is more to the story. He met the girl at a 21 and over bar/club. Nothing came of it until awhile after the incident. Says this has pretty much ruined his life.
If his story is basically accurate, then I wouldn't vote to convict as a juror, and would dismiss the case as a judge. If they met at a place with an age restriction, then assuming she's an adult is reasonable.
If I remember correctly, there was also the issue of her having a fake ID and passing herself off as older. We've all seen girls that could easily pass as over 18, but who were really younger. Crappy situation.
Which would make me think that the place with an age restriction should be somewhat responsible also.
Thanks. I thought that those were the circumstances, meeting at a bar and therefore assuming that the girl was at least over 18. I would think that the girl should be held somewhat responsible also but there are probably all kinds of unintended consequences to doing that which are probably worse than the cure.
And I've seen plenty of people mid 20's that could easily pass for someone in high school. It's certainly a tricky situation, and I fully understand thinking someone is over 21 if you've met them in a bar. It sucks for him, because it does seem like it was an honest mistake, and something he wouldn't do had he known. It's why I wish we didn't get the names of people involved until after trial. His life is forever tarnished, because even if cleared, people will still assume the worst when they look him up and see the articles.
He's done a great job with the Loons. It's great to see someone go from watching cry kids to finding a successful post-MLS gig.
Careful. Comments like that might lead me to believe you have some compassion. That would be a very un-engineer trait.
Soccer America has a terrific interview with former RSL president Bill Manning, now at Toronto. While it's primarily about TFC, there's so much Salt Lake in the piece that it could be reshaped as about our glory years.
I was looking around online for what it might cost to finish a basement when I came across this ringing endorsement for a local company by a “longtime real estate investor” named Nathaniel.
