The Prem showrunners are loving this though and Pool playing United coming up, just as they go top of the table, is the cherry on top of the sundae for them. It only means so much in the grand scheme, but that's all the motivation the boys need (in case playing Pool at Anfield is not motivation enough) to go there and try to get a result and make their stay at the top a short one. Don't care for City being top of the league either, but the only thing that makes me sicker than Pool being top, would be Arsenal being there...
Chelsea have suspended 4 of their fans from attending games, pending their investigation on what happened this weekend with Sterling. Good on Chelsea to act so swiftly. Expect some lifetime bans to be handed if/when their file actions have been proven.
Aye really. I've said it before, the team I really don't care for in the Prem the most is Arsenal. Pool is a close 2nd. The rivalry might have abetted in recent years, but still. For me, having been a United fan since the 90s, Arsenal are the team I've witnessed us having the most sustained and intensive rivalry with. We've battled it out for more titles and trophies directly with them since that time than we have with Pool. But I'm fully aware of the significance of the rivalry with Pool, from an historic point of view, who is the most decorated club in England and so on...
KdB, Mendy, Aguero and now D. Silva, because of a hamstring injury, will be out for a few weeks. Losing 4 players so important would likely cripple most teams. City might feel it, especially with the games coming thick and fast, yet they can still field an XI that will do the job, more often than not.
Ospina at least his doing his part to keep Napoli in the game. He's come up with some big saves this half. On the other hand, if Hamsik is not going to convert any clear cut chances coming his way...
Spurs are going on to the Round of 16. Prem clubs pulling their feet out of the fire today, in a big way...
Damn wasted time just tosee Pool Spurs going out.. both of them through .. Allison saved right at the end ..
City sign Zack Steffen for £7mil www.bbc.com/sport/football/46530855 The question here is where will he go out on loan once he joins them. Would be a pity if he were confined to a backup role to Ederson, considering he's a shout for the #1 jersey going forward for the USMNT.
Was in Strasbourg last night, about 150 feet from where the shooting take place. Wait staff at the restaurant sent us downstairs until all was clear. Jose owes me one: start Andreas.
Koulibaly and van Dijk both were excellent yesterday in that game: top shelf CB play. Even if admittedly, van Dijk should have seen red in that game. Don't know if he's really worth £90mil tbh, but you can't help thinking we could use him in our backline...
Spurs should have destroyed Barca's A/B team. Wasted numerous chances. Christian Eriksen is unreal. Some of the passes he was making. Even when he moved to Spurs deepest midfielder, he was unreal. Dele Ali OTOH, was not so great. Didnt contribute to ant of Spurs best attacks. Oh and Im finally on the Harry Kane train. Despite not getting many scoring chances himself, he helped create a bunch. Some of the passss he finds are just amazing. I still think English media and fans overrate his play when he drops into space. Touch isnt flawless in tight spaces. That was a game worth watching again.
What impresses me most about Kane is how smart he is as a player and how well he reads the game especially since he's not the most physically gifted guy (not overly fast or strong) Next time he plays, watch how he initiates contact with defenders before he gets the ball. A lot of times when balls are played to his feet with a defender on his back, he'll give them a bump right before the ball arrives to throw them off balance. Most forwards brace themselves for the contact from the defender whereas Kane initiates it. That way he is the one more prepared for the contact and it affects him less than the defender. It's subtle but its brilliant.
@benni... I watched the first 30 mins or so but it was late last night and I was debating whether to finish it up tonight. I am trusting your assessment. Now it's funny the discussion on Kane. The part that I did watch I saw some smart movement from him too. I wondered then whether I would take him or Alan shearer. How do both stack up against each other for you? Mizzou what do you think too?
