speaking of ... Gabriel Jesus not looking so good these days. overhyped/overrated or dip in form to be expected of a young player?
His skills have never been that of a wonderkid. He is back to earth. Vinicius on the other hand has that actual skill.
GJ was performing adequately enough prior to his injury earlier in the year. It's since then that things started going downhill for him. He rushed his return because he wanted to make the WC squad and ever since he's been poor (whether it's with Brazil or City). And if course it's trickled down to this season with City, with his summer exertions taking their toll. I think he'll be fine in due course, but it might take a little time. Also, I believe that playing him as a CF to be a mistake: he's not big or physical enough to properly handle it (unlike Aguero for instance, despite the fact he is injury prone). Not to mention, playing centrally restricts him in terms of his creativity and freedom of movement. He should be like Sane or Sterling, playing either from the flanks or if he is central, it needs to be in a SS role. Not saying that he may be better than Vinicius Jr or not (can't really tell at this stage imo), but he's definitely misused as far as I'm concerned.
Anyone watching the MLS cup final? Thought the atl goal might have been offside. Haven't seen a replay so I can confirm.
Great job and congrats to Tata Martino, Arthur Blank and Atlanta United. Great win for the team and the city. Perfect exit for Tata Martino: a big thank you for 2 awesome years.
Atlanta has done everything right since joining the league. Hope this sets the bar and other teams start following suit.
Truth. Never expected things to magically just go away, but it appears it's going backwards and to a bad place again. The banana incident last weekend at the NLD and what allegedly with Sterling at the Bridge, being just 2 of unfortunately numerous examples, not just in England but everywhere... And therefore why we shouldn't stop bringing it up, talking about it and do something about it despite how "uncomfortable or annoyed" some may be on the subject...
Credit to Sterling for calling out the biggest racist offenders in the UK these days - the newspapers. You will always get a number of idiots shouting obvious racist remarks (that fortunately go largely unheard) and that is terrible and should be dealt with, however what is more dangerous to society is the casual racism in the national newspapers given their audience and influence. Many of the immigration stories are truly abhorrent but even more pernicious are stories like the one highlighted by Raheem where a white kid buys a house and the story is positive. A black kid does the same and the story is negative. Raheem Sterling has called out racist behaviour by UK newspapers on his Instagram this morning. pic.twitter.com/bzhrXJMXVQ— Capital Moments (@CapitalMoments) December 9, 2018
The players we'd want from Boca (considering our needs) are either Wilmar Barrios or Pavon, as far as I'm concerned...
Nandez is the guy I want. Barrios is a player we would want but he is a different type of six, he won't sit, he moves around. Passing range is okay. Edit: Nandez is the guy that played that pass.
Barrios, as mentioned above, is gnarly: doesn't shy away from the physical stuff and the fact that he does not just sit and and is actually mobile, is a big plus for me (as long as it is aimless ballchasing, which is not what he does). His passing range is more than good enough. He's Casemiro lite, for all intent and purposes. Nandez is fine, I suppose but with the players we have and in terms of being a good fit to the Prem, Barrios is the one I'd go for all day. Meanwhile, River gets the equalizer, with about 20mins left.
Gago comes on for Boca at the Bernabeu. What a time to be alive. Hoping Carlitos comes on and wins the game.
Interesting that the away goals rule does not take effect here. It's something I've really been torn about and of 2 minds for some time now. Boom! 2-1, River.
i am happy for River to win as i prefer them to Boca but not like this. controversy will hang over this win too. shame
