Too little, too late in all likelihood from Giroud and Chelsea. It's been a pretty dominant performance from Tottenham this afternoon. Can only imagine what Poch would be able to do with our squad, as is. Solid defense, expansive and entertaining style of football going forward, promotes youth and goes about his business without constantly complaining about what he's got (safe for the expected occasional remark borne out of frustration) and ultimately, getting the best out of his squad. Too bad that dealing with Levy means almost no shot for all intents and purposes. He'd get us back, or at least much closer to where we used to be.
Just saw video of what Boca's team bus looked like after it was attacked by River Plate fans, ahead of the 2nd leg of the Copa Libertadores earlier today. Pretty much all the windows are shattered and it appears that one Boca player has been ruled out of the game. Kickoff has been delayed, but imo, there should be thought of possibly cancelling it altogether, especially if there are numerous Boca players injured, as it constitutes an unfair advantage to River Plate in a row with everything still to play for.
Disgraceful that it took them so long to postpone the match. Players were throwing up in the locker room and one starter had glass in his eye and will be unable to play at all. Infantino still wanted to match to take place and said Boca would be disqualified. ********ing bellend.
Only guns were missing .. that was disgraceful... The tie should be cancelled as if players on bus were injured ..
Arsenal win again and are unbeaten in a while. It's so frustrating seeing teams with similar or less talent that have hired attack minded coaches this season and are immesimmedi benefitting. Yet **************** Woody is sticking with Jose who in year 3 hasn't improved the squad at all.
Went to see PSG play yesterday against Toulouse. Made me depressed to return back to Manchester and watch United this week. In attack they were just fun to watch, every player getting involved with the aim to create chances, even without Neymar or Mbappe Admittedly in defence they were very naive and really were lucky not to concede, but you didn't really care because you always thought they would be able to score again. Even though the score was 1-0 which is a very Mourinho scoreline the match was anything but
CONMEBOL has confirmed that the game between River Plate and Boca has been suspended. They will decide later on when it actually will take place. Correct decision, considering all the Boca players who have been hurt yesterday.
36hrs that shamed Argentine football www.bbc.com/sport/football/46337788 Even with the game to be rescheduled, you feel like the air is out of the balloon energy wise, because of what transpired this weekend. As the first leg showed, those matches are already electric as it is. With the added stakes of the Copa Libertadores (and the result from the first leg), it had the potential to be special. Unfortunately, this final will now be remembered mostly for what happened off the pitch.
Anyone see the video of Atlanta’s crowd tonight? Holy shit. Lightning. I saw it on Instagram, sorry, don’t have the video.
The 2nd leg of the Copa Libertadores will not take place in Buenos Aires (or anywhere else in Argentina apparently). www.bbc.com/sport/football/46363739
i was glad to see Ajax qualify for the Ro. 16. lots of people talk shit about the Dutch league and it being poor but given how much the big 4 leagues have pillaged the talent there this is nice to see
I've always enjoyed watching Ajax. Even when they're outmatched they insist on attacking. You have to admire that.
Ajax have a formula and a way of playing they've hardly deviated from (except for tweaks here and there) for decades now. Right now, they are blessed with some incredible young talent (de Jong and de Ligt among others) and they've bought well: getting Tadic and bringing back Blind were good moves. They have a good team, fighting tooth and nail with Bayern for the top spot. Would not necessarily want to face them, if they finish top of the group in the Round of 16. They're better than 2yrs ago when we met them in the EL final team. Dangerous team for sure.
Somehow Marco Veratti has not been sent off. He got booked in the first, and had 3 bookable offenses since then.
So it's going to go down to the last matchday for both Tottenham and Pool. Would be pretty ironic and kind of surprising as well, if neither of them made the Round of 16 (even if both teams were in genuinely tough groups). Most of the teams that look like to finish top of their groups, would be pretty difficult matchups. Haven't seen them this season, but Porto would appear to be the matchup we'd want.
Good news that Liverpool will need to play a meaningful game before we meet them on 16th, whereas we can rest players for Valencia game.
Speaking of Pool, it's interesting how their signings for this season have not worked that well (so far at least). Keita seems to be dogged by injuries, Fabinho still has not managed to crack the starting lineup on a regular basis either. Alisson and Shaqiri have been their most successful signings at this point. Hard to imagine a midfield of Milner, Henderson and Wijnaldum seriously challenging City for the title. We'll see, I suppose...
The only way Pool challenge City for the title is if City hit a rough patch and if Salah regains last seasons scoring pace.
