They're all very top heavy. Bayern is +20 in Germany, Barca is +13 in Spain, Man Utd is +12 in England, and Juve is +9 in Italy. No parity at the top this season.
There is no best league as it depends on what the expectation is For now, EPL and Liga surpassed SerieA (became so much worse in quality since last 2006 crisis) Bundesliga in other hand became stronger than last 5 years in other hand - Most competitive: Bundesliga - Most exciting : EPL - Most beautiful: Liga - Most tactical : SerieA
I like bundesliga the germans know how to run their league is the best top to bottom. I also like eredivise because of the tons of young talent and technical ability. []__[]
According to Champions League, 1. La Liga 2. Bundesliga 3. Seria A 4. Premier League According to me, Seria A is the best overall league, yes you hear me
That's because their coefficient is only based on top teams. Honestly the disparity between top teams in each of those leagues and bottom teams is ridiculous. All of them after the first top 5 teams are filled with worthless teams.
I'll just go with Serie A Pescara Genoa Palermo Siena Torino Sampdoria Atalanta Chievo Parma Bologna Cagliari Catania Udinese That's 13 useless teams Lazio Roma Internazionale Fiorentina That's 4 teams that would be mid table in the Brasileirao Milan Napoli Juventus That's 3 teams that would contend. And if you going to say.. omg team XYZ has great history.. before you mention any team please list their roster.. because I think you forget how crappy they are. You see a name you recognize and automatically you think it's a good team. Look at the rosters honestly.
If we just point out 5 teams in each league, things actually looking different tho Premier League Manchester United Manchester City Arsenal FC Chelsea FC Tottenham Hotspur Serie A Juventus Turin SSC Napoli AC Milan Inter Milan A.S. Roma La Liga FC Barcelona Real Madrid Atlético Madrid Valencia CF Málaga CF Bundesliga FC Bayern München Borussia Dortmund Bayer Leverkusen FC Schalke 04 Hamburger SV
All I'm saying is that "worthless" is a pretty disrespectful word to use of a team (especially here, in World of Soccer, where you're supposed to be respectful towards teams other than your favourite). People care about teams other than title contenders as well.
if we decide to be realistic, those 5 of each league can be even more condensed. Spurs, Arsenal and current defending champs Man City and Chelsea are not in the same league as Man U. so that's 1/4 Napoli is going through a good patch but it's not elite, Roma definitely not elite. That's 3/5 Atletico de Madrid never had a chance to compete for la Liga and even when it was ahead of Real, just by goal differential you knew Real would go past them and were far better. The other teams are ok but not spectacular 2/5 Dortmund currently are good, who knows they might go into another 8 year stretch of not winning anything... remember how good they were in early 2000 and how bad they were until 2010? The other teams, traditional.. inside Germany. 1/5 Now even if I give you 5 per league, you're looking at 60 other teams which usually lose by at least 2 goals to each of the top clubs (top meaning the ones I consider top) and are just there to fulfill a position on the table. Sorry that's just not good enough to say that's a good league when 17 out of 20 teams are not contending for the title! Now if you took my definition of a top team and put them in a League which would substitute their local leagues.. now you got something. 2 berths for Germany 2 berths for England 2 berths for Spain 2 berths for Italy 2 berths for Portugal 2 berths for France 1 berth for Turkey 1 berth for Russia 1 berth for Dutch 1 berth for Greece 1 berth for Ukraine 1 berth for Play-offs 1 berth for Play-offs 1 berth for Play-offs The playoff berths would be for teams from smaller countries like Sweden, Belgium, Scotland etc. So for example. The winner of Bundesliga along with the second place of the Bundesliga would play a short knock-off tournament before the start of the season, the top 2 would go on for the Euro league, while the ones that lost would go back to their local leagues. Now instead of having Bayern play a bunch of bundesliga teams all season, you would see them vs Real twice, PSG twice, Barca twice, Man U twice, Porto twice, AC Milan twice etc.. since their league is European.. And no they wouldn't be playing in the Bundesliga.. that's a regional tournament. A tournament like that WOULD BE the best in the world by far, and would finally be a league which is what you guys believe every league in Europe is.
Ok we really can't define just a best league. It's just how we define a best league. As for me... Best "top teams" La Liga (Real Madrid, Barcelona) Most entertaining Tactical: Serie A Exciting: Premier League, Bundesliga Most competitive La Liga, Bundesliga (Champions League) Tactical Seria A Fans Premier League Best overall league I'll go for Serie A
And what is the difference to the Brasileiro? Since they adopted the double round-robin without the play-offs at the end in 2003 the final tables aren't vastly different to the European top 4 aside from Spain. There aren't more teams who finished in the top 6 spots and the title races weren't closer than in Europe most of the time. There was a lot of chaos and change in the organisation of the league between 1999 and 2003, especially after the league was suspended in 2000, which showed on the tables, but other than that...
not sure which brasileirao you have been following, but before fluminense last year winning you have to go back to sao paulo's dominance mid 90s to ind a team winning ahead of the final game. plus te difference in goal differential and points between team is not +70 +20... ever. you get 70 points in brazil you got a chance for the title last year 76 was third place in la liga
In the bundesliga the final point difference between the winner/third placed team is usually 4-10 points, the EPL last year got decided by GD, what is your point?
My point is.. that's between first and second place.. (10 points is an awful lot between 1st and second to begin with), and the bundesliga is now starting to become a money rich league, which means the top teams will increase that point disparity more and more and become something like the EPL each of those teams had 89 points... you know what that means? a lot of shitty team in that league that are just there to fill the table's schedule. 89 89 70.. that was third place.
Do you know there's something called the Champions League for this? I like it better the way it is, with the drama of knock-out stage and final. Yes, I agree that national championships in Europe are only regional competitions nowadays. They are all tied by the Champions League. Somehow this is not so different from the US sport system based on conference divisions qualifying for playoffs. To me it's fine the way it is, even though I think some championships in smaller countries should better merge for their own good... but that's just me.
