Christian, who @iamalfred recently noted was on a barnstorming team in Scandinavia in search of a contract, is apparently still in Europe and still looking, according to TDS: Former Duke defender Christian Ibeagha is currently on trial with FC Emmen, a second division club in the Netherlands. The 6-foot-2 defender plans to head to Bohemians 1905, a top division side in the Czech Republic, in the coming days. http://www.topdrawersoccer.com/coll...-residency-player-on-trial-in-europe_aid29171 Duke bio: http://www.goduke.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=4200&ATCLID=1088056 MLS bio page: http://www.mlssoccer.com/players/christian-ibeagha He's a big Nigerian-American from Texas, born in 1990.
That would be is younger brother Sebastian Ibeagha. I played club soccer on Seba's team in Houston in HS. His actual team. I know Christian slightly as well. Christian trialing over-seas with some lower division sides isn't surprising. Sebastian though is considered the bigger prospect and will either sign with Houston after this season (his parents wanted him to go for four years) or will go on trial in Europe (or both I suppose) I would be able to report better on this situation but I deleted my facebook (where I was friends with both these guys) but we weren't good friends or anything so I didn't get his phone number. Cheers, Kruck
Thanks for the info. I remember a kid by the name of Ibeagha from the U20s. I forgot his first name and didn't realize he had an older brother that was also a soccer player.
Yea its a pretty exciting situation. I was always wondering when these guys would appear in YA and I would finally have some first hand knowledge to share ha.
He has played some games for the Bohemians 1905 juniour side, which is technically U21, but with some over aged players. The next step could be the B team. He has been training with the A team as well. I don't know if he is still with Bohemians. http://fotbal.idnes.cz/christian-ib...s-fdi-/fotbal.aspx?c=A130821_220309_fotbal_ot He played again for the juniour side on August 26th. http://isport.blesk.cz/fotbal/online-prenosy?match=124568
Evidently he made the team: Christian Ibeagha, a former standout for Duke, recently signed with Bohemians 1905, a side in the Czech top division, the Gambrinus Liga. The Prague-based squad was recently promoted to the top flight in professional soccer in the Czech Republic. http://www.topdrawersoccer.com/club...ospects:-new-french-american-emerges_aid31198 Read the rest at TDS...
Next game is on Saturday against Vysochina Jihlava. And for some reason, their logo is a kangaroo. http://us.soccerway.com/teams/czech-republic/bohemians-1905/550/
Well, at some point he debuted ... No later than his start 4/14 vs. FC Slovan Liberec, where he saw yellow in a 3-1 loss- http://isport.blesk.cz/fotbal/online-prenosy?match=180787 Then started in a U21 match vs. FK Varnsdorf on 4/22, sounds like he was beaten for a goal (Google Translate): "The first serious action to enforce guests Halbich rounded Ibeaghu and sent the visitors into the lead." http://www.bohemians.cz/clanek/15532/kosata-rozhodl-o-vyhre-juniorky.aspx http://www.transfermarkt.com/en/christian-ibeagha/leistungsdaten/spieler_216844.html https://twitter.com/xianibeagha
Ibeagha has been playing for Bohemian's youth team. http://translate.google.com/transla...,+Bohemians&espv=2&biw=1242&bih=585&tbs=qdr:m http://translate.google.com/transla...,+Bohemians&espv=2&biw=1242&bih=585&tbs=qdr:m
What's the deal with this kid? He has yet to play for Bohemians first team. He should come back to MLS - can't imagine he's making more in the Czech Republic.
In MLS he would probably warrant something close to the league minimum without many extras (i.e. food, per diem, housing & car allowance). I be in Czech he makes at least 50k with a bunch of those extras thrown in. Don't really see a need for him to come back just yet.
