Did the ref realize she was telling the US players making a 2-person wall to stand closer to the play than they intended after she counted 10 yards?
Must have been a late change. Klingenberg is playing LM, Pugh on the bench. Looks like Lavelle is tucked inside as the #10. Naeher O'Hara Dahlkemper Brunn Short Mewis Long Dunn Lavelle Kling Press
Wow, can't think of a single player who was good in the half, but I can think of 6 or 7 playerz who were pretty bad this half,
The stream I'm watching is also not cutting away for commercials; we have halftime entertainment at the moment of a dance routine/interpretative movement happening on the field with many in the crowd joining in.
live stream with commentary Norway's Caro Hansen is about the best dribbler in woso, Just surprised that they made her an AM, then her preferred right side winger
It in effect was a 3 back with O'Hara mostly up in the attack. We didn't look good in the Sweden game either. Both our attack and our defense is missing any bite to it. I'm not impressed, and I'm not particularly looking forward to the July tournament at the moment.
This looks a lot like the US/Sweden game of a few days ago. Norway looks more dangerous, and US is giving the ball away too much. In a departure from the usual, I've been impressed by Press so far. Norway keeps pressing on the U.S.'s right. Ohara is getting forward and Norway is taking advantage of that by attacking on the U.S.'s right flank. So who wins this?. The US because O'Hara is forward, or Norway because O'Hara is forward? Aly Wagner is certainly down on Long and Mewis in the central midfield. They're not doing much. Prediction: US goal: Lavelle to Dunn or Dunn to Lavelle. Same same as against Sweden. The US left flank needs an appearance by Rapinoe. And with Rapinoe get Press in front of the goal -- or Long or Mewis.
So far, Norway is playing like a well-oiled machine (which they should be with the Euros coming up) and the US like an un-oiled machine (which isn't too surprising, but is too bad for the quality of the game). I'd say Press had a good first half and Kling a pretty good one, but with a couple of poor give-aways. I'd say O'Hara had a very poor first half.
When the outside backs cannot distribute effectively to advance the ball, which neither KO or Short are, it sets the team up for failure. Long and Mewis are playing far too slowly in the midfield too. There is just no cohesion or rhythm at all.
Some may disagree, but I think we're missing the soccer brain and quiet presence of Morgan Brian. We don't often notice her when she's out there, but we sure miss her when she's not.
Does anybody on this team make runs or offball suppory movement? So much standing and watching the player with the ball...not a single dynamic run
