Welbeck should have scored. Great play by Guendouzi.

Interesting lineup/ formation. Certainly not a defense predicated on speed, so a good test of the team's ability to build from the back.

Meanwhile, Henrikh picks up a collector's card.

Guendouzy having another good, positive match.

Well, Arsenal are getting their chances. Need to take advantage of one.

    Torreira on for Elneny.

Are we trying to play like 3 at the back?

Back line was very fluid in 1T. Often 4 when we were on D, and 2 when we were on O. Haven't really been paying attention much in 2T.

Danny sticks the ball in the net! but disallowed for an alleged push. I don't speak Spanish but I think they said they couldn't see it. ;)

It's a veritable onslaught by us in this half. Shots on target are like 5-0.

One thing I'd like to see changed is related to goalie injuries. After they sit on the pitch for a period of time, getting their calf stretched or the magic spray, they are never required to go to the sideline to be readmitted, like an outfield player is. Goalies take advantage of this double-standard, big time!

Edit: I realize that this would be very hard to implement. Do you force that team to play without a GK? Or do you allow them a very temporary deputy until the real GK returns? And if so, what shirt would that deputy wear? OK, so it's not likely to happen, but I still don't like how keepers often take advantage of this.

Edit: Drives it through the keeper's legs. Nicely taken.

Yup. And for his rewards he gets taken off for Laca. Wonder how he felt about that? I missed the exchange myself.

Hmm. Fresh legs on the attacking side as Iwobi and Lacca check in. Intention is to keep the press high, perhaps?

Come on lads. Let's finish this off.

    Well done lads!

OK, not quite as convincing as we'd like. Not quite as clinical as last time. And we did our typical thing lately of "losing" the first half, before winning the second half. Plus, lady luck was on our side when we could've gone down to 10 men early on... phew. BUT...

We've all but advanced to the knock-out stages after 3 matches. And the overall streak continues for Arsenal and for @crazy150... at 11?. :D

    Onward.

Yep, another not-so-pretty match but job done. Considering the lineup changes and the apparent fortune in not losing a man via red I'll take it. Better still the squad can rotate as they need for the remaining EL fixtures. Can't ask for more than that.

    Onward and upward.

So we are winners, IIRC simply by all of your posts, I missed the match because I'm not about to get gouged by Ted Turner and also DISH has that ongoing carriage dispute with Univision, which effects all of their networks, as they blocked us DISH subscribers from seeing them, so UNAI'S RED ARMY MARCH ON!!!

May not have been called because they were both guilty, the Sporting player was using a classic swim move and was holding Sokratis' arm.

FWIW ol' Uncle Ted really isn't involved with Turner Broadcasting anymore and hasn't been for a few years. Been wrestling with dementia as of late.

Wasn't able to see any of the match, or highlights yet. But found this stat from Football365 interesting.

Torreira may be one of our best buys in decades. It is tangible how much better our team plays when he is on the pitch. God help us if he gets injured...

Torreira and Guendouzi represent perhaps our best transfer window in at least a dozen years. If Leno continues on the path he has been on so far it will be by far our best window in a very long time.

The fact that many of us were less than enthused by the transfer window makes it even better.

Torreira looks really good - we've got a lot more control when he's on.

Maybe the Torreira song needs a little changing?

    He's only five foot five
    But gives us overdrive

(I know, I know it's not the most apt word for what he brings, but you get the point)
