they are the pots my friend . they are not the groups . Groups will be determined by selecting 1 team from each pot. So every group will be consisted of 4 teams coming from each pot.
I hope Hungary make it after they so narrowly missed out on automatic qualification as the best 3rd placed team.
Hello! My name is Mauritz and I study Hospitality Management at Åland University and studying my last year. This survey is for the who that are going or planning to go to the UEFA EURO 2016. My study will focus on to how much money football travelers spend for a major football event (EURO 2016), and whats the budget for the trip, tickets, hotels, etc. This will only take about 1 minute to do. It’s in English but down the bottom it says “SKICKA SVAR” (Swedish) and that means send the answer Thank you so much for your time! http://www.enkät.se/survey.php?pid=19761&mpid=e8b0cf1f06975eef6f46098c7d230c04
Having seen Hungary emerge victorious in Norway, one has to guess that Hungary is a good bet to advance. The other three are, in my opinion, Ukraine (against historical doubts), Sweden, and Ireland.
Just came home from the Denmark-Sweden game and couldnt be happier! Zlatan is a great player and the Swedish fans will invade France wherever we et to play our games! But give us Marseille and Nice, warm and nice!
Im happy the Swedes made it cause I think they have some nice fans. Why? Id like to share this little anecdote: I was in Cologne during WC 2006 before the England-Sweden game. I got on a tram with a horde of English fans chanting football's coming home all the way to the stadium. AND there were too a few, more reserved, Swedish fans. In a short moment of silence one rather drunk English fan yelled in the direction of them: “SWEDEN!!! GIVE US A SONG!!!” Silence. Then, from the backside of the tram, a tender voice started singing: “Knowing me, knowing you…ah aaa…”
There won't be any groups of death this time since you can advance even if you finish 3rd (plus we won't have more than 2 top teams in any one group). The most we'll see on December 12th is potentially an "R16 of death" (new term that I just invented). Say, for e.g. Germany gets drawn in group F and Italy & Spain get drawn in Group E. That would set-up a situation where two teams that you would expect to reach the quarterfinals wind-up meeting in the R16. I admit this is a bit of a stretch since Italy or Spain could finish 3rd in their group and still probably advance meaning Italy, Spain and Germany all would manage to avoid each other in this example. That said, this is the thing I'll be watching for on December 12th, not so much the relative strength of the groups themselves. I mean, if you're a team like Sweden and you draw Germany no need to be pissed- it means you avoid Germany until at least the semis in the KO stage. That's true even if you finish 3rd. IOW, the tougher your group the more likely you will have easier R16 and quarterfinal opponents.
Well the toughest group would be Germany Italy Poland Wales and the group of life would be England Switzerland Hungary Albania
Netherlands, Norway, Serbia, Greece, Denmark (former champions - in bold) are missing. They often take part. But I do get the sentiment. Euro2016 is cheapened. And I say it fully realizing that if only 16 qualify, my Ukraine is not going.
True, a lot of tiny countries in Europe though. Looking at countries with populations over 2 million (which is still pretty small) and most from that group probably qualified. Interesting that those that failed to qualify are largely clustered together in one of 3 geographical or political regions : Scandinavia, former Soviet republics and south-east Europe.
