Tuesday, June 21 Croatia vs. Spain -- Matmut Atlantique Bordeaux (9 p.m. CET/3 p.m. ET, ESPN) http://www.uefa.com/uefaeuro/season.../match=2017899/prematch/background/index.html
Heading into Tuesdays final group match it looks like this: Spain........... 6 pts +4 Croatia.........4 pts +1 Czech Rep....1 pts -1 Turkey.........0 pts -4 Spain wins the group with a win or draw Croatia wins the group with a win and will finish second with a draw. If they lose and Czechs win they could finish third if the Czechs win their game by at least 2 goals. The Czechs with a 2 goal victory over Turkey will finish second if Croatia loses to Spain, a draw against Turkey would secure third place. Turkey will finish third with a win over Czech Republic.
We need to win/tie to avoid Italy then probably Germany. Croatia should either win or lose by 2-3 goals if they want to avoid Italy.
If we become first: Italy, Germany and France (and England) will all be on the other side of the bracket than ours. edit: I should add if Italy become first. I can understand using Ramos with a yellow in this one, we'll probably need him more tonight than the next game (if things go right) as we'll be playing a 3rd placed team then.
The Spanish D when moving back on the counters is leaving a lot of room in the midfield for the Croats to move outside the box untouched. As mentioned above one slip and the will score!
Not to blame the goal on him, but it's too bad Carvajal got injured before the Euro. I think he would have added much more offensively than Juanfran does. Ramos lost his man way too easily.
No but he could not keep up with Perisic when he made his move and allowed the wing to center the ball where the unmarked Kalinic scored.
Should be interesting if VDB brings on anyone at the start of the second half or will wait to see how the game unfolds in the first 25 minutes of the second half.
