Any truth to the rumors that the club is looking to sign a new number one? Apparently some Belgian papers have reported the club is shopping, allegedly having inquired about Mignolet and being turned back by his cost.
I totally forgot about Mignolet. Probably the most highest paid no.2 in England. Hopefully Horvath has done enough to convince him being no.1 I still hope he can follow in the steps of Mathew Ryan. He was Brugge's keeper a few years back and look at him now at Brighton.
Just seen that report today. It mentions interest from German end English clubs for Ethan, which would surprise me, but you never know. I think it is too early for Ethan to make that leap. I don't think we will invest in a new goalkeeper if Ethan stays.
His Norwegian gf is also a footballer... now with Brugge's female side. https://translate.google.com/transl...ijke-transfer-met-vriendin-van--ethan-horvath
#USMNT Ethan Horvath is CLUTCH! He comes up big for Club Brugge with 5 big saves as he earns another clean sheet in the playoffs as Brugge wins 1-0 today. 3 straight clean sheets. Huge match for him next week as Club Brugge faces Genk. Likely the title deciding match. 🇺🇸🔥— Mr. Silence Dogood (@POTP_Silence) May 5, 2019 STATS | 🇺🇸 Ethan Horvath (23) has saved his best for the end of the @ClubBrugge season. Nearly has as many cleansheets in the playoff round as he did in the regular season. When does Belgium announce their Team of the Season? Im curious if he was in the running for best GK.
3 games left, 6 points difference, and Brugge has two at home while Genk only has one. Genk has +12 GD to Brugge's +8. And the next game is Brugge-Genk. Since neither team loses at home, the bottom line is that Brugge must win all three games left and hope Genk loses both away games. Not happening. Brugge beating Standard away is hard, Genk failing to get a point from Anderlecht away even harder. Not to mention the pressure next game. Genk can afford to lose it, Brugge can't.
Genk plays away to Anderlecht Thursday and home to Standard Liege Sunday. Brugge plays away to Standard Liege Thursday and home to Antwerp Sunday.
https://www.nieuwsblad.be/cnt/dmf20190512_04393181 The title fight is completely open again. Genk took the lead in Bruges, but went down after the break and eventually lost 3-2. As a result, blue-black comes from three points in Genk, and with a tie, the West Flemish are champions. Which scenarios are now on the table? Remaining program Genk: Thursday 16/5 visiting Anderlecht, Sunday 19/5 at home against Standard Genk plays champion as: - It packs 4 out of 6.The Limburgers are still in the lead and therefore have everything in their own hands. If Genk takes 4 out of 6 against Anderlecht and Standard, it is always champion. - Club Brugge takes a maximum of 2 out of 6. Club has to win at least once if it wants to be eligible for the title at all. As mentioned earlier, it still has to get three points compared to Genk. Club Brugge is taking the lead in a questionable way: did the crucial goal have to be rejected? Club Brugge remaining program: Thursday 16/5 visiting Standard, Sunday 19/5 at home against Antwerp Club Brugge champion as : - It takes 6 out of 6 itself and Genk loses one more time or draws twice - It takes 4 out of 6 and Genk only takes a maximum of one in the last two games - Club gathers three more points and Genk ends the season with a 0 in 6
No Belgian team - even Brugge or Anderlecht - can afford a keeper like Mignolet; the no. 2 to an EPL CL side. Even the Eredivisie's big three would think very long and very hard about shelling out 3 million pounds a season on wages for a goalkeeper. A striker? Maybe - Ajax signed Dusan Tadic from Southampton - but not a keeper.
Ajax and PSV can pay higher wages than Brugge, I think we can match Feyenoord. But what you say is correct. if we would try to sign a Premier League player he would have to drop his wages drastically. In return he would be almost guaranteed a first team spot and he should be almost certain to play for domestical silverware and be able to play European football every season, in the first rounds that is Bear in mind that Mignolet is Belgian and he never played for a top Belgian side. It wouldn't match Brugge's transfer philosophy though.
Adrien Trebel from Anderlecht reportedly makes 3M euro/yr. Anderlecht traditionaly pays much higher salaries than Brugge/Standard also more than PSV/Feyenoord.
