Though even the best keepers make mistakes( whether big or small), so consistency would have to be key then.
Heard that Cardiff was interested a few weeks ago Rc Genk will probably lose Samatta, Pozuelo (TFC?), Trossard and Berge after this season . Money talks plus these guys want to play in a high profile league
ESPNFC needs to start covering the Belgian league and get us some minute-to-minute updates. Same as Goal.com
Seriously though, it's always clean sheets, followed by the goals against average in general and that average against the big boys in whatever competition in particular. Saves don't count quite so much, since a keeper can be a great shot-stopper but poor at the other stuff that counts, like organizing the defence, ball distribution, etc. The only factor that counts as much as clean sheets is this one. Its importance - to coaches and keepers alike- absolutely cannot be overestimated.
He has improved, but still needs work. short passing has improved a lot. More at ease with pressing attackers coming at him. He should do better on long balls. It wouldn't be honest to compare him to Maty Ryans footwork, but if he wants to make it at a bigger stage this is one of the things he has to work on. Long balls should be better aimed and harder/lower/less arc to it.
I don't think there is any easy stat that shows strength or weakness for a goalkeeper. Maybe an inverse xg? stopped expected goals? clean sheets and goals against are greatly influenced by how the team plays and quality of the defence in front of the keeper. Even saves, because a compact defending team will give away far less shooting opportunities than an attacking team. And then there's the difference between being a goalkeeper for a minnow and a top team. A lot of top keepers have declared in interviews that the most difficult part of their job at a top team is keeping their concentration high throughout the match. Being ready for that match defining save when you haven't seen the ball for the previous 80". Best way to rate a keeper is watching them play. And even then you make mistakes.
A Brugge fan says about him that he's prone to a howler every so matches that will be a hinder to get into a better club.
Horvath is starting in the Europa League against RB Salzburg and boy is he having an eventful first half. Gave away a penalty early and got a yellow card for it (both harsh decisions for me), saved the penalty, then got beat on a 25-yard laser (positioning could have been better), and then got beat near post from a tight angle after a Brugge defensive collapse.
Now 3-0. 1v1 poked past him. Not a good day for Horvath or Brugge. Based entirely on goal highlights, the Red Bull Press™ is destroying them.
Sic transit gloria mundi. Moment for the sad trombone. With Brugge and Celtic out, next Schalke (dead) and Dortmund (also dead) games mark the Yank adieu to European competitions.
4-0 final, 5-2 aggregate. Dabbur scored the 4th as Brugge got shredded again. League play resumes Sunday with an easy match - away to Anderlecht.
According to a Yank and a Belgian Brugge fan he was not very good (well, they were a little bit less kind in how they put it).
2 saves on 6 shots on target, penalty, yellow card, could've done better on at least 2 of the 4 goals. 1-10, something like a 2.5. You basically need to throw the ball into your own net to do worse.
Did any of you watch the game and see how poor the defense was ? Yes on a couple goals he could have played them better even with that it would be 2-0. First half defense was piss poor letting runners to run free in the box WTF ? Such short term memories from his three shut outs in Champions League
I'm not saying he sucks generally, but he sure was dogshit today. So was the Brugge defense. It happens.
