The it makes sense that he didn't play. The UAE aren't much cop, even in their region, and an experimental side wouldn't be much test for anyone.

League season starts on the 22nd as they take on Gooch's old club (Standard Liege) with Gullermo Ochoa as their no.1 for the 2nd season in a row. Still amazing that this guy is in Belgium. I can't believe he didn't latch on to a PL or Serie A club over the last few years after all the acclaim he had in Ligue 1.

Champions League starts September 18. Pretty sure Brugge is gonna be grouped with a Juventus or Munich, United or Dortmund and Monaco. A baptism of fire. But a few good performances. Maybe even a cleansheet will go a long way for him. Provided he actually plays.

I'm in the fan club :D

He has some really tough competition this season. But if he can keep his spot; he will prove himself to all.

The club has 6 CL games (and if they can somehow finish 3rd) then at least 2 more games (for EL)

and cup matches and the league runs until December (before the break). A lot of opportunities.

The way this team works, he'll be starting again by Week 3.

Hey, at least Horvath is ahead of the other 27 keepers that were in the squad last year.

Butelle was sold to Angers last winter.
Vermeer returned to Feyenoord after his loan.
Gabulov is still on the books, but I think is not part of the club's plans.
Hubert is #3 or #4 on the depth chart.

The new starter, Letica, just arrived from Hajduk Split and is two years younger than Horvath. That'll be a problem if he gets off to a hot start.

And Butelle was their former #1 who helped them win the league. Supposedly Vermeer was good until his injury (after like 7 games).
Gabulov is someone Horvath def should have beat out.

But his poor form early in the season doomed him for months. He didn't play for 6 months yet still has more appearances than the rest.

Hubert seems to just be a no.3 regular at the park for some reason.

    Brugge won the SuperCup.

I gotta admire the English for giving it a real name (Community Shield).
