Coentrão is lucky not to be sent off. He should’ve got a yellow in the first half

Since Benfica, one month ago, we will have dropped 7 points with this loss. We’re gonna look back on this season and say we lost the league in January.

We cant get even a consolation goal lol.

In all honesty though, VAR has done its job today. No complaints, we lost fair and square.

Since the league expanded 4 seasons ago it’s taken an average of 85 points to win the league. As of today, we’d finish with 89 points of we won out the remaining 13 games. We have wiggle room of 3-4 points to have a good chance of winning the league. 82 points was the lowest total to win the last 4 years, so best case scenario we have wiggle room for 6-7 points.

Basically we can only lose 1 game (plus maybe a draw) the rest of the way or lose 2 (plus maybe a draw) if both Benfica and Porto fall off a cliff in form. Based on Porto’s season up to this point I don’t see it happening, even their draw recently they dominated and should’ve won 2-0 if Brahimi and Felipe (which should’ve been a penalty anyway) didn’t miss their sure fire chances.

In short, I think we’re cooked considering the way the schedule turns shortly. This was our stretch to take advantage and create separation but we ********ed it up.

Good analysis, if the talent gap were closer in this league, this loss might not be the end of the world but the big 3 now-a-days only lose once or twice a season so even 1 loss is huge.

Basically we have to go to the Dragao and not lose to have any chance. We also have to host Benfica and win. Braga game will be away too and we can't drop points.

This stretch killed us IMO. All teams are pretty even right now in terms of numbers but Porto and even Benfica (Belenenses game aside) lately are playing on another level. Meanwhile we’ve been squeaking out wins by the hairs on our asses. Nothing about the way we’ve played lately (cup games included) leave me confident in the remaining 13 games.

13 games is still 13 games and anything can happen whether it be with us or our opponents, but I’m really struggling to see Porto falling off.

It’s gonna take something phenomenal to close out the year to win it.

It's also the style of soccer JJ plays. He doesn't attack aggressively and plays with 1 forwword. That isnt going to work in this league
