I honestly wouldn't know about that, I'm just saying NBC's coverage of Formula 1 is enough to drive me nuts! You're just bombarded with advertising even outside of the regular commercials. You get split-screens b/w the Formula One race and some NASCAR event (as if Formula 1 fans give a crap about NASCAR)! There are also long interviews with random people in the middle of the action. Any one of those distractions is tolerable on their own but combine all 4 and you're left with very little actual coverage of the event. Though I will acknowledge that their pre- and post-race coverage is pretty good, as is their coverage of qualifying on Saturdays.
Last time I used ESPN3 (a few weeks ago) to watch our League Cup match, I was really impressed by the stream quality. But not this time! On the same computer as I used before, with tons of bandwidth (70mbps downstream). Yet on Chrome I get this cut-out/stutter every 5-25 seconds... quite annoying & distracting. And when I switched to Edge browser, I don't get those periodic cut-outs, but the overall stream quality is quite choppy. The ads stream beautifully though, so I guess it's something specific about ESPN's game-streaming back-end which is causing the problem. And maybe the fact that there are so many concurrent matches?
I usually don't have an issue with ESPN3. One of the more reliable options IMO lol Bein is another story
Yeah, I though ESPN3 was fantastic last time. This time no. And I also noticed that the stream is consistently 10-15 seconds behind in Chrome compared to the same stream in Edge. Even after I restart from scratch. Ah, the joys of Internet streaming!
And now in Chrome my audio is 1-2 seconds ahead of my video. That's about as annoying as it gets. You hear the news before you see it. Oh boy, let's hope they fix this going forward. Edit: I'm now watching the City-Wolves match which is ending in PK's and the out of synch audio is hilarious. I might as well not watch the video and just listen like it's radio. And then top it all off just on the final PK as the announcer says "Sergio Aguero to win the game and break the all-time City scorying record, steps up and... " <stream freezes> p.s. I didn't think that goals scored during PK shootouts, counted towards an individuals goal tally. Am I wrong?
Saw Arsenal-Norwich on a DirecTV HR-44 and then switched to an AppleTV and when it was done watched the end of City-Wolves (also on AppleTV) with no problems whatsoever. Picture looked better than if broadcast on satellite TV.
Over the last couple years I have noticed that the Windows 10 app is more reliable than any web browser streams.
I agree that I didn't think it would count. His Wikipedia page says it was updated this morning and doesn't mention him breaking the record.

This is an article I just came across from last month... it's way more general than just ESPN sports streaming, but it illuminates Disney's efforts through a company called BamTech: https://www.nytimes.com/2017/10/08/business/media/bamtech-disney-streaming.html?_r=0 Amongst other things, what this told me is that the big media companies do want to have complete control over their streaming platforms, even if they're willing to outsource them to some extent. Disney decided to buy a 75% controlling stake in BamTech. And HBO is about to replace BamTech with its own in-house system. Also it muses about potential subscription pricing of $5-$9/mo. No big surprise there... let's hope it's at the lower end! Those $5/mo subscriptions to here and there could add up damn quick!!
