In a few years, when you add up the costs of all the streaming services one needs, it could be as expensive as cable again.
That's why I don't get cord cutting in the first place. The money paid to streaming services ads up quick. Especially if you pay for sports. So I have 400+ channels on DirecTV. I definitely have the ones I want. And I'm not stuck watching it on my phone and paying for additional data/home streaming package. Sure, it would be nice to go alá carte, but then once the useless 10¢ a month networks die off, up will go the major network prices. Thx, Jay!
Sports fans definitely benefit from the system as it stands now. The people getting screwed are the little old ladies who watch local news and the home shopping network only but pay for all the sports channels too. They're dying off and not being replaced.
There's a double-digit about of college football games on at a time if you get enough channels. ESPN3 is more useful for college basketball, which has more teams playing more games, and if you're a fan of not popular Team X who is on ESPN3 there will be more times when little to no ranked teams are playing at the same time as Team X.
Could go that way, but it really still depends. I could cut my bill almost in half if I go to streaming now with my streaming necessities. A disruption in internet bundles and pricing could make up for a lot of the value that we lose if more and more rights holders pull an espn. Or Verizon and Comcast could collude and spike up the costs for internet and we'll end up paying more than we do now. It's still a variable situation.
Actually that was on Tuesday It's here. It's actually here.ESPN 8: The Ocho, bringing you the finest in seldom-seen sports ... all day on @ESPNU and the ESPN App. pic.twitter.com/CSpwhpBEoU— ESPN (@espn) August 8, 2017
ESPN running this Supercopa clasico with a huge ticker and a play by play commentator that sounds like he's never called a soccer game before(Salazar?). Lame. Don't mind Alejando Moreno doing color. Their soccer coverage slipping has gone under the radar(except in the case of the EFL properties where they're just using the feed they're given). Not sure if whining about a ticker makes me more old or new school, but it makes it much less pleasant aesthetically.
MLS - Los Angeles Galaxy-New York City FC - ESPN2 - 73K. Spanish SuperCup Leg #1 - FC Barcelona-Real Madrid - ESPN:- 570K.
This could be cool to use when the Champions League Group Stage starts up: ESPN's Apple TV app streams four live feeds at once https://www.yahoo.com/finance/news/espn-apos-apple-tv-app-142100440.html
It is cool but keep in mind that espn only gets picks 4-8 in English and alternates first and second pick in Spanish and also gets picks 5-8 in Spanish, so you're going to be missing top games which are Fox exclusives. I wonder if the long promised Fox Soccer Match Pass Apple TV app will offer the same. In that case, you would be able to multicast all CL and EL games (for a price of course). And only for a year until we see what Turner and Univision have to offer.
I personally like it for that very reason. If I wanted to watch the top teams in English then I would just watch it on regular Television.

I was going over the UEFA schedule, and there is one match that I could not find a TV listing for: Fri, Sep1 - Kazakhstan v. Montenegro 12:00 pm EDT UEFA.com has it listed as an ESPN networks match, but ESPN listings do not have the match listed at all (neither does Fox). Does anyone have nay further info on this match?
I noticed that too. I put the IPTV info on where people can watch on my TV Guide (http://soccertvblog.com/tvguide/). I only list IPTV info if no one is showing in the US. Wouldn't be surprised if ESPN add it last minute to the schedule, however... SA
http://www.livesoccertv.com/match/1665053/kazakhstan-vs-montenegro/ doesn't list any TV in the USA for that game.

I've noticed lately that my DVR is not picking up ESPN FC shows on Sunday night (early Monday) or Monday night. Is that just a function of my DVR programming or did ESPN get rid of those airings? The Sunday night one was their 1-hr weekend round-up.
