Yeah, nowadays even teams like Getafe can pass and move.

Since Cruyff retired, there has been maybe 2 World Cup finals where you could say the passing and movement was decent, and one of them was played 32 years ago.

That's because getting there drains you much more than back then. Not to mention the systematic doping.

meh, I don't buy it. If anything the path to the WC final was more grueling in the 1970s due to the format (2 difficult group-stages), rougher style of play and less pampered lifestyle that players had.

But who would rather watch Getafe 2019 than Barca mid-90s apart from yourself?

Somehow this just reminds me of the lyrics, 'treat it like boxing, stick and move, stick and move"

And if you don't know, soon you'll know, neighbor, just a google search away.

Right question would be who would rather watch Refdrid of mid-90's rather than Getafe 2019.

No. You agreed with my comment that Cruyff's teams sucked and added that Getafe can play like Cruyff's teams. So my question stands: Who would rather watch Getafe 2019 than Cruyff's Barca apart from yourself?

The what now, where did I agree that? I was commenting how badly Refdrid played.

    You weren't specific

It sounds like you were commenting on how both teams were playing back then compared to how they play today.
    So I replied...'

And you agreed by saying, "Yeah..."

So it sounded like you believe Getafe 2019 play better futbol than 90s Barca and LPB.
But now you're saying you weren't talking about Barca?
    Okay.

No I meant how bad teams like Refdrid played back then, and how even teams like Getafe can nowadays play like Cruyff's teams back then, or how the football on whole has advanced.

Life evolves in general, in all walks of life.
That's one reason why I hate comparing teams from different eras.

Traveling for the next week but will predict grand once tomorrow - current form so Roberto Vidal and Dembele start. Then in Copa Semedo Arthur and Coutinho (in place of those 3) plus Cillessen start but otherwise grand once.

Glad it's the late kickoff. Barca seem to be getting more 18h30 local-time or later starts this season compared to previous couple of years.

Rumours abound that De Jong is nearly a done deal at PSG .. massive deal .

Doesn't say much for his ambitions if he's happy to waste away in the French league blowing every other club away effortlessly

Money vs ambition will always continue to divide players.

Yeah, its a shame. Although in his case he wouldn't have been a sure starter with Barca or Man City right away. Defensive midfield is a weak spot for PSG so he'll probably start every big match for them. And he's young enough that he can spend 3-4 years there and then still have 4-5 years left to play for a big club like Barca or LPB if he pans out as expected. Finally, PSG and Ligue 1 is still an upgrade compared to Ajax and Eredivisie.

So, unlike Neymar, its not a 100% money-driven decision.

Couldn't he play the Rakitic role ?

Absolutely. But Rakitic plays practically every game despite there already being a lot of competition for that position. Meanwhile I would struggle to even name 3 CMs /DMs on PSG's squad.
