is it smaller than slope park rangers?

  2. That wouldnot be rational, both for club or players on loan.

  3. He would get alot of defensive work to do. That's for sure.

Not really small. In D2 they were drawing in the 13-15k range, and they tend to get near-sellouts at home (18k+) when they're in the Eredivisie.

Since most D2 sides have USL or even PDL-sized fanbases, there won't be many bodies in the 2-3k away section at Breda's stadium, so 13-15k is their core support. That's about the same as AZ or Vitesse, so they're not a small club, but they tend to spend their time in D1 in the relegation places or mid-table.

I doubt he's going there, though. The squad is huge (32 players) and they already have 5 CBs: one more body will not help dressing room cohesion. The gossip on this board was that he's going to PSV for 18 months, which makes sense for all 3 parties: EPB gets stability and continuity as he refines and upgrades his game, while City get top-level coaching and competitive PT for an interesting prospect, while getting a good proportion of his wages off the books. Meanwhile, PSV gets a player who is already depth quality and could be a rotator by spring to augment a small squad that's short of cover at CB with only three specialists on the roster.

Maybe they already knew what EPB and City have in mind and decided to clear space in advance?

I'm not saying that's what they do, I'm saying that's how they play.

Well, it could be worse. They could be Roda.

  8. Dunno, the mood in the club and among supporters is that Cocu gives the own youth talents far too little chance to play, especially compared to Feyenoord, Ajax, AZ, Heerenveen and Utrecht and those clubs arenot exactly suffering from it, while PSV does. The club management is under fire from all corners for that policy, so bringing in an unproven youth CB from abroad in and thus blocking own talents, will prove to be a major stumbling block. It's not like the supporters see an proven asset like national Mexican team player Moreno come in. Especially given the rather choppy start of the season, that might be worsened if Feyenoord profits from the suspension of their major striking asset Lozano. Their defense already is in build up mode with young and on top level unexperienced players. Adding one more willnot go down well.
But on the other hand PSV is cash strapped and have no financial room for external improvements in januari, so ManCity could throw in the bate of free player value.

I was looking at their roster, they only have 3 CB's on their roster, along with two DM's who can play CB (although one starts at DM, so that would create an open spot at DM if he plays CB). None of their CB's seem to be all that good either.

I think that makes a lot of sense to sign a 1.5 year loan with PSV. And they should be playing in Europe next year, as long as they don't have another disaster of a qualifying campaign.

Cocu could, of course do both, but this is football we're talking about. :D

  11. You're working with info that isnot complete. This guy is coming fast to the first team.

This guy is being talked about by coaches that have won European cups and this is one of the guys Cocu is lamented about not being fielded in the first team. PSV is trying to make him sign a contract extension, knowing big clubs are after him. This is a guy that's going to be worth millions forPSV, if he signs. In that light it seems not very smart to introduce a ManCity player that isnot worth anything for PSV, while it antagonizes this guy, who can choose to extend or move.

  12. Twente seems to me the place wnere he can land, and it already is a ManCity partner.

You can believe either the Dutch media or the American journalist that has access to the player.

Supposedly there was no PSV interest according to your guy. What happened?

It's hilarious to me how @feyenoordsoccerfan categorically can not stand for someone being more knowledgeable than he on any matter, in any way connected to Dutch football lol.

  19. They were busy trying to get two highly sought after CD players. One was 17 year old captain Per Schuurs of Fortuna Sittardia, who already had visited FC Liverpool and Bayern, but decided that at his age it is better to stay put for at least another year. (see the TotW picture) The other one was Kik Pierie, the 17 year old revelation at SC Heerenveen, well known in the YA section. Kik however isnot willing to move yet either and just last week told that his preference goes to either Feyenoord or Ajax. So the management of PSV was caught in a timing problem, with no options left and the transfer clock ticking away to the dead line. It became also clear beginning of August there was no money to invest at all (hence the chasing of the relatively cheap youngsters). Now coach Cocu is using unfit replacements, much to the fury of people following talents, like Aad de Mos etc. while ignoring the one ready to play, 18 year old Obispo, like those I mentioned and 18 year old de Ligt at Ajax. I think it will be a major wrong move for EPB to go to PSV, as I expect Cocu to be out before the winter break and the one most likely to come in is Mark van Bommel, coach of the Young PSV team and huge fan of Obispo. Mark van Bommel was invited by Bayern München to fill the role of technical director, but refused the offer. In my eyes, because he doesnot want a desk job yet and he's an ambitious bastard, seeing the status of Cocu going down th drain ever faster. There is hardly a PSV fan that still is behind Cocu. So, given the chance MvBommel is to be the new coach in januari and Obispo is his protege and everybody, including the Dutch football press is abusing Cocu for not fielding Obispo, I wouldnot choose to go to PSV. The only one wanting him there is Marcel Brands, the Technical Director, because of his mismanagement of the players mutations in the summer.

  20. Oh, dude. You're hilarious. You should post in the Mex/USA thread. Right where you belong with this kind of post with no substance.
What part of the PSV manager telling ED/VI he contacted them in august about a transfer donot you understand?

  21. For Feyenoord sake I wouldnot mind EPB going to PSV, thus giving us the chance to get our hands on one of the hottest Dutch CD talents.
    Hey, hey, hey..EPB to PSV.:)

  22. By the way, both ED and VI mention that Brands contacted them in august for a transfer. He doesnot mention talks about a loan, which is odd as news papers in England already are booking EPB as a PSV loan. If that's a done deal, he could have mentioned it.

So what you're saying is that your source forgot to tell you that PSV was interested in EPB?

    Got it, thanks.

I just call it like I see it man, and you're posting habits put a lot out there to be seen.

It's been obvious all summer that you're not particularly informed on this one, members have repeatedly called you out for it.

    No big deal.

  25. Do you have a problem with calenders? Brands mentioned they contacted EPB/his agent in August to talk about a transfer. Not the whole litany of pages about that being the case since whatever moment Metro started to publish about it.Probably you jumped over my response on the "what changed " question, that Brands contacted them. Brands was chasing prospects, that werenot coming/he couldnot pay and with the dead line looming and heavy critics in the media had to do something. This move has already been branded as the cornered cat jump.
And probably he has been used as leverage versus ManCity , as he stated EPB signed with ManCity after his contact.
Mr Brands the last few weeks has been slapped silly for his handling of the transfer window and his approach of EPB is an example of his complete messing up of his duties, knowing who were going to leave, knowing who would be good replacements and making sure these replacements are signed in time. He contacted EPB as a last resort for the missed replacements plus the solution for the lack of money he suddenly had. You call that interest, I call that hitting the panic button.
