If anyone was curious.....EPB is being tracked by European teams......I know I know, I always have the best insight
This isn't news. It'll be news if an offer is made or a team is close to making an offer. Of course UCL teams that attend the CONCACAF U-20 Championship are going to have interest in the tournament MVP lol.
Outside of NYRB info, a lot of the stuff he tweets are often second hand off of twitter or due to a dm he got from a player/agent.
I don't think it was from MLS transfers, it was someone down in Costa Rica sitting behind all the Euro scouts taking a picture of them.
I think someone will buy him in the summer transfer window, after the U-20 WC. He will still have six months left on his contract so he won't be a free but SKC will be motivated to sell knowing they will get nothing if he rides out his contract through December.
Guy is going to get some monster play after the WC. It'll be interesting where he decides to play because he will have options
Somewhere where he can play regularly. He should look at lower/mid level clubs in the top leagues or top teams in Belgium, Portugal, Netherlands, France discounting teams like Benfica, Porto, PSG, Monaco where he probably wouldn't be given an immediate chance to start. Even at Porto though, he was starting to find his way into the rotation. He made the bench in November, and was the team's 4th CB towards the end of his stint at Porto. What he shouldn't do is pull a Miazga, and join one of the best teams in the world.
I wouldn't mind if Juventus bought him after all. Sure he wouldn't get much PT initially but imagine the education!
I'd love to see him with the Italians, lot of stud CBs come out of that league.....maybe a mid table squad, one of the Milans.....
The PL isn't for development these days, they want a near finished product, there is too much money to have projects out there. I'd rather a better league technically to learn the nuances of the position under solid pros....like at Inter under Miranda and Medel, or something of that nature.....those guys are in their 30s so learn from them for a few years and then take their spot at 21 and don't look back
I think he could play right now in one of those leagues, and I'm being serious. I don't think he's starting at Barcelona or Real Madrid, but he's very good, I don't think those teams I named have enough players that are good enough to keep him out of a place. I think he'd be one of MLS's best players right now, if SKC gave him a chance. Take Glad for example. Very good MLS CB who is a lock starter for RSL, and EPB is a better player than him by some margin (my opinion at least), and thats not a slight on Glad. EPB is just very good. EPB was ready to start in MLS two years ago, but Vermes discriminates based on age.
i dont disagree with you, but i just think the PL is a death trap for prospects.....where as he could go to a little less "prominent" league like a Serie and learn how to play the actual position. Italian defenders run circles around the PL guys....you want to lean how to play CB, take it to Italy and be a boss......it he starts wrecking at a lower club he will get picked up by Juve anyway....Italy or Spain would be best, or back to Porto....where they actually put faith in their youth and let them learn on the job.....looks what happening to CCV right now, hes good enough to play at a lesser club but hes riding pine in the PL.....not good for his development
i do wonder how England was prior to the global hegemony of the PL. Were the early years of the PL far more sensitive to developing players?
