Because of the low attendance in the ArenA and spurred by interest from South Africa the idea has been launched to play the seasons opener, the match for the "Johan Cruijff Schaal", abroad. Is that a good idea? I personally donot think so, but what do you think? @Orange14, would it attract viewers in NewYork, for instance if the battle would be double winner Feyenoord vs KNVB cup final runner up Ajax or PSV?
Doubtful, there are just not enough Dutch football fans. Preseason friendlies between big Euro clubs do have good attendance figures but Ajax and Feyenoord are not big names any more. I think it was after the first of de Boer's Ajax championship seasons that the club came to the US and played a couple of friendlies. One of them was here when the played DC United. Only about 11,000 attended the match and there were probably a couple of hundred Ajax supporters wearing kit tops. there were a bunch wearing orange shirts who were not club supporters but NT fans. That's the kind of interest you have here. Spanish sides like Barca and Madrid will always sell out friendly matches.
We only dropped the points while the power of the midfield was reduced by absence of and El Hamadi and Vilhena and the last three matches were an energy drain of maximum size. And a major cock up by vd Heijden. Ajax just is playing shit as a rule and in three matches in a row should have been down with 2, 3 goals after 20 minutes. Worse is for them that Onana now already is showing wear and tear, while Krul seems not ready yet to take over. PSV just seems to have forgotten how to score goals.
Not to be taken seriously this guy ^ However, Feyenoord will have a problem with losing Kongolo who seems to be out with quite a nasty injury. Having Nelom + Vd Heijden on the left side of defense will be a definite weak point that could cost them points in the upcoming period. PSV has everyone crowded in the middle with the backs having to cover entire sides of the field. Leaving them exposed at the back and too little room in front to create real chances. They still have lots to figure out. Still got Ajax as champions in the end.
PSV and Ajax still have to play against each other on december the 18th. Some day PSV their conversion rate has to become normal again. If Ajax still defend like the clueless bunch they are now it might be a happy day for Luuk. What's more...they meet at the very end of the competition on the 23d of april 2017. So if one of the two are in pursuit of Feyenoord the other one will give everything to get the second place and ruin the title chances of the then runner up.
I still think that Feyenoord is the best team of the moment, but you spend a lot of energy and I wonder what Bilal made the starting lineup. I also note that the club now ignores its own young players who could participate in the rotation and bring freshness. What is certain is that over time, I think you may be limited because of the lack of alternative.
Gio actually hardly used different players in the team. Untill these injuries it is about 15 players used ( I exclude players with 1 match up till now), so no room for youth players to play. Given the up till now success run it would be unwise to play youth players, especially a few of the matches were decided late in the game when the opponent was outgassed. If we had numerous matches that were decided long before the end whistle it would be an option, but up till now, no. Bilal has speed and is under special attention of Makaay to get him cooler when confronted with a goal scoring opportunity. Berghuis is just recovering from a nagging injury that prevents him from delivering everything on the pitch, so for now he's not a threat yet for Bilal. The wings are loaded when everybody is fit again. The fact we are playing well has everything to do with the same crew now having experience and playing together for two and a half season. It would be mismanagement to upset that by needless including of youth players. The selection is deep enough to cope with the energy depletion of the 22 matches in 7 weeks. Hopefully also for the injuries that now have presented themselves. It isnot true however no youth player got into the first team selection. Woudenberg and Nieuwkoop are the Academy guys.

I noticed in the Rotterdam derby of Excelsior vs Sparta that a former Ajax player Reiziger was sitting on the bench next to the coach. Why isnot he in the Ajax staff?
So, the last matches before the winterbreak come up this weekend. Feyenoord recovered and looks playing far better than before the temporary breakdown, scoring goals plentyful (and unfortunately wasting chances more) and back in the flow. It is a pity the winter break messes with it. The confrontation between PSV and Ajax is between a team that has problems to get back to the last year's chances to goals conversion rate but has a very good defensive record of just 7 goals against. Mean while Ajax gathered the points, but squanders to many chances too. But with the luck of opponents not scoring when even open chances are given, the damage has been contained. Ajax however shows inconsistent performance, even within a match. For Feyenoord the best outcome in my opinion is a draw between these two. At the weekend before the winterbreak it isnot clear yet which teams are the prime relegation candidates when looking at the points difference. Going into the weekend the small 5 points gap between nr 16 PEC with 14 points goes all the way up to FC Groningen at nr 9 with 19 points. With so little room a team cannot afford to be unlucky in a match.
Young talents in Brail are having a good thought about going to the EPL and are coming to the conclusion it is better to go to the Eredivisie. The failure of the EPL to give the young Brasilians a real chance, ending in them going into a neverending loan trail/derail of a promising future makes the Eredivisie a desirable destination again. Ajax got a highly sought after kid and PSV is in anticipation to sign a talent the moment he turns 18. If our youth come to their senses and follow that example, the future of Dutch soccer still can be saved.

De goede begeleiding en trainingsmethoden in Nederland worden door buitenlandse talenten geprezen. Trainers durven talenten de kans te geven in plaats van te kiezen voor de gevestigde orde. Clubs zetten hele scoutingsnetwerken in om buitenlandse jeugdspelers naar Nederland te trekken. Toch zijn er ook een aantal talenten die om uiteenlopende redenen de Eredivisie niet hebben gehaald. In het buitenland maakten zij echter wel furore. Wij selecteerden de zeven toppers die op een haartje na in de Eredivisie speelden: Alle video's van FOX, Voetbal Inside, Ajax, Ziggo, Feyenoord, PSV op 1 plek. Handig! 7. Angel di Maria AZ was in 2007 op zoek naar een nieuwe linkervleugelspeler, omdat Stijn Huysegems was vertrokken uit Alkmaar. Toenmalig technisch manager Marcel Brands zag in di Maria de ideale versterking voor de voorhoede van de Alkmaarders. De Argentijn zelf had ook wel oren naar een verblijf in Alkmaar en bereikte al snel overeenstemming. Di Maria was op weg naar Nederland, tot een investeringsmaatschappij de deal blokkeerde. De investeringsmaatschappij had connecties met Benfica en wilde het supertalent graag in Portugal onderbrengen. AZ liep Di Maria op een haar na mis. Inmiddels speelt de buitenspeler in het maagdelijk wit van Real Madrid. 6. Michel Bastos Michel Bastos arriveerde in 2001 in Nederland om voor Feyenoord te spelen. Het talent uit Brazilië kon in zijn eerste seizoen niet aarden in Nederland en werd het jaar daarop verhuurd aan Excelsior. In Kralingen speelde Bastos bijna alle wedstrijden, maar werd toch niet goed genoeg bevonden voor Feyenoord. Bastos keerde terug naar Brazilië, maar werd een aantal jaar later opgehaald door OSC Lille. Via Olympique Lyon en Schalke 04 speelt de Braziliaan nu voor AS Roma. 5. David Alaba Heinz Schilcher scoutte namens Ajax in 2007 David Alaba. De Oostenrijker werd niet genoeg bevonden door de Amsterdammers, er stonden immers ‘al genoeg van dat soort spelers’ onder contract. De linksback vervolgde zijn loopbaan toen bij Austria Wien, dat hem na een jaar alweer verkocht aan Bayern München. Daar is de Oostenrijker inmiddels een vaste waarde. Alaba wordt gezien als één van de beste linksbacks van de wereld. 4. Alexandre Pato Pato liep als jong talent al eens stage in de jeugdopleiding bij Ajax, maar werd niet goed genoeg bevonden. De Braziliaan keerde terug naar zijn vaderland en ontwikkelde zich daar wél door. Op zijn 18e stond Pato genoteerd op de lijstjes van vele scouts. AZ had ook interesse en was rond met de club van de Braziliaan. Het talent vond AZ ook interessant, totdat AC Milan om de hoek kwam kijken. Pato transfereerde uiteindelijk voor 22 miljoen naar de Italianen, maar kon hier – mede door blessures – nooit doorbreken. 3. Didier Drogba Voordat Didier Drogba naar Frankrijk vertrok, toonde NEC interesse in de Ivoriaan. De Nijmegenaren bevonden de aanvaller echter niet goed genoeg, waarna Drogba naar Frankrijk vertrok. Via Marseille belandde Drogba bij Chelsea. In Londen groeide hij tot één van de beste aanvallers van de wereld uit. Inmiddels speelt de Ivoriaan bij Galatasaray. 2. Robinho Robinho stond te boek als één van de grootste talenten van Brazilië en dit bleef in Eindhoven niet onopgemerkt. PSV bereikte overeenstemming met Santos over een transfersom van 12 miljoen dollar. Ook Robinho zag een verblijf in Eindhoven wel zitten en de transfer leek in kannen en kruiken. Tot de moeder van de Braziliaan werd ontvoerd en de onderhandelingen werden stop gezet. Vijf maanden later kocht Real Madrid de aanvaller voor 35 miljoen dollar. 1. Lionel Messi Ook Lionel Messi speelde op een haar na in de Eredivisie. De aanvaller van Barcelona werd in 2004 toegevoegd aan de selectie van de Catalanen. Maar Barcelona had op dat moment al een maximum aantal niet EU-spelers in de selectie waardoor Messi buiten de boot viel. PSV-voorzitter Rob Westerhof probeerde de Argentijn te huren en de directie van Barcelona zag de deal wel zitten. Frank Rijkaard en Henk ten Cate hebben de deal toen tegen gehouden omdat ze Messi liever bij hun selectie wilde houden. Hyballa: 'Het Nederlandse voetbal is erg conservatief' De eerste acht maanden van Peter Hyballa als trainer van NEC zijn niet onopgemerkt voorbij gegaan. Met zijn hyperactieve coaching langs de lijn, on-Nederlands lange trainingssessies en opvallende uitspraken voegt hij op zijn minst kleur toe aan de Eredivisie. Met de twaalfde plek voldoet NEC dit seizoen ruimschoots aan de verwachting, maar drie opeenvolgende nederlagen geven reden tot zorg. Voor de 41-jarige zoon van een Duitse vader en Rotterdamse moeder geen reden om in de nieuwe editie van VI een blad voor de mond te nemen. Hyballa stelt vast dat het altijd door hem zo bewonderde Nederlandse voetbal behoorlijk is vastgeroest. 'De Eredivisie heeft natuurlijk een grote financiële achterstand ten opzichte van de grote Europese competities', weet de NEC-trainer. 'Maar ik ben ervan overtuigd dat Nederland met ontwikkelingen op andere terreinen weer een belangrijke rol kan spelen in het voetbal.' Spaanse bondscoach In VI geeft Hyballa een aantal voorzetten. 'Je kunt spugen over de grens, maar leer eens van het buitenland. Geef jonge trainers de kans. Benoem eens een Spaanse bondscoach. Ik bedoel niet dat Danny Blind weg moet, maar in het algemeen: doe eens wat nieuws.' Als beginnend trainer verdiepte de Duitser zich zoals veel landgenoten in de Nederlandse manier van voetballen en opleiden. 'We hebben jullie bestudeerd, typisch Duits is dat we daarna zeiden: "En nu willen wij het beter doen." Op dat punt zijn we nu. Andersom mis ik hier de bereidheid om te leren.' 'Tactisch gezien zie ik hier nog veel ouderwetse manoriëntatie, koppeltjes die zich over het veld bewegen. Gegenpressing, het gelijk druk zetten met de hele ploeg, is een veelgebruikte term in het internationale voetbal. In Duitsland weet iedere speler vanaf zes jaar wat het betekent. Hier bij NEC moest ik het iedereen uitleggen. De term, maar ook het principe. Ook werken bijna alle clubs hier volgens de periodisering van Raymond Verheijen. Hij heeft best zinnige dingen geschreven, maar ik volg zijn methode niet. Ik geloof in hard trainen.' Er is meer dan de leer van Raymond Verheijen, zegt Hyballa, er bestaan meer systemen dan 4-3-3. 'Nederland was altijd tolerant en open, maar het voetbal hier vind ik nu erg conservatief. Gooi die ramen eens open.' Overigens zat Hyballa onlangs om tafel met Hans van Breukelen, de technisch directeur van de KNVB die een rondgang maakt langs trainers in Nederland. 'Een goed gesprek, binnenkort volgt een tweede afspraak. Van Breukelen stelt zich op als iemand die wil leren en luisteren, dat is positief.' In de papieren VI van deze week een uitgebreid interview met Hyballa, die verder ingaat op zijn onconventionele werkwijze bij NEC, zijn visie op het Nederlandse voetbal en zijn eigen achtergronden als mens en trainer. Before the winter break, the cameras were at Ajax’s Amsterdam Arena. There have been other goals awarded by the technology in the Netherlands but none at such a crucial stage in such a high-profile match.
