"let the horses run free" again and play 3 in midfield. also it would be nice for the injury list to be clear. hasn't been for a good while now. also, looks like slim US coverage for this one so far. let's get it
Midfield 3, have a go. Get the ball wide, spread their backs and find Lukaku with the low cross. Push Pogba forward and find him for the midrange shot.
Would have absolutely no issues watching the game in Spanish if necessary, but as expected, the game will be shown on NBCSN... Perhaps the Olympics coverage had something to do with not making it official yet, who knows?
Love playing at St James Park. There is one game I thoroughly enjoyed us playing there when Moyes was there and Nani made a comeback. Kagawa scored at the time. It was the best match performance under Moyes.
Jose Mourinho press conference. www.manchestereveningnews.com/sport/football/transfer-news/man-utd-mourinho-conference-live-14267604 On the injury front, Zlatan has been back in training for the past couple of days. Both Bailly and Blind are still out. Looks like Shaw has all but won him over also at this point, with more glossing comments from him.
There's no excuse for not going at Newcastle with a 433. Pogba must be unleashed, especially against a club enduring a poor run of form. The only two serious questions are who partners with Smalling -- Jones or Rojo -- and who gets the start at right mid -- Herrera, Young or Lingard. Herrera for me, but Young could be an interesting alternative. I'd leave Lingard on the bench until the 60th minute to mop up for whomever needs to step down. As for Jones or Rojo, Jones was in good form before Spurs and he's served his punishment, but I wouldn't have a problem with Rojo getting the start.
Does not believe that Newcastle will be relegated this season. www.skysports.com/football/news/11667/11242800/man-utd-boss-jose-mourinho-says-no-way-newcastle-will-be-relegated Not so sure about, until the guys they've signed in January hit the ground running, they could find themselves in trouble given their current position.
The desired lineup for tomorrow: Dave Valencia. Jones. Rojo. Shaw Herrera. Carrick. Pogba Sanchez. Lukaku. Martial Wishful thinking probably in a couple of positions, but that's how I would line the team up. The concerns re Matic are well known: he simply can't play in every single game. Herrera gets the nod next to him, but would be fine if McTominay were to play in his stead (this is not a game for Lingard IMO). Hoping against hope that Sanchez plays on the right (he's got a favorable matchup there), with Martial on the other flank.
Newcastle United starting XI: Dubravka, Dummett, Lascelles, Lejeune, Yedlin, Shelvey, Kenedy, Diame, Pérez, Ritchie, Gayle. #NUFC— Football Tweet ⚽ (@Football__Tweet) February 11, 2018
Not sure what's so weird about this lineup. It looks like a 4-2-3-1 (Jose's not going to let it go unfortunately) hopefully with Sanchez wide right. Player wise, it's pretty optimal as well. Would have had Carrick in there for Matic and Shaw for AY (but the latter works almost just as well).
#MUFC boss Jose Mourinho has confirmed that both Marcus Rashford and Ander Herrera are absent from today's squad due to injury.Full story: https://t.co/N7vf6OCpft #NEWMUN pic.twitter.com/Bd3wtfkoAT— Manchester United (@ManUtd) February 11, 2018
Same lineup as against Spurs. As long as this time Martial is at LWF and Pogs is at LCM don't mind (given the oppo). If he messes with these two again to accomodate Sanchez on the left we could be all over the place again. Hopefully Sanchez plays in the middle - as Martial/Lingard seem better disciplined at helping the fullbacks and Martial is wasted on the right.
Good save from Dave from Shelvey's powerful shot. We're probably looking at a scrappy game with Newcastle down in the bottom 3 after Huddersfield's win earlier.
