Pack the team with attacking midfielders tucked in, it would work, with two holding midfielders in Carrick and Herrera the play Martial Rashford Lingard and Mkhi. Ashley Young will play too.
At home against a weak side? This season's form guide says a draw is in the cards. It comes down to who's fit. We'll have three days between games so I'm not too worried about Pogba if he's back to fitness. We'll get our goal, but can we cope with Llorente?
I second that motion. But let's be clear: Tuanzebe would be up against a very tough striker in Llorente.
I'm hesitant about Carrick for Sunday. We probably will need him more vs Vigo anyway (with or without Pogba). 2 matches in 4 days might be too much to ask, 3 in a week is definitely impossible. Besides Carrick and Blind is redundant anyhow. I'd love to see Bailly sit this one out but it's very unlikely to happen. Jose has indicated that no one who was out yesterday will be back Sunday, implying that Pogba may not be ready. With that in mind, I'd go with the following team: Dave AY. Bailly. Darmian/Tuanzebe. Shaw Herrera. Blind. Rooney Lingard. Rashford. Martial Or and more likely since Jose will not play Blind in midfield: Herrera. Rooney Lingard. Miki. Martial Rashford
What happened to him, dude? He is fun. What did he get the Red for and for how long? I have the armbands ready if needed.
I can already tell that I'm going to look at the lineup and immediately go back to bed. Regardless of me being tired or not.
One more CM injury and I'm heading to OT with my boots. Full disclosure: I don't track back and I'm gassed after about 8 minutes.
I can play defense but I will probably be slower than Blind and love to point out others mistakes and pretty oblivious to mine.
My head still have full hair turning grey, like RVP. I can not even compare to Blind in that regard but I think I can head the ball better than him.
Welcome back @Teso Dos Bichos 7am is crazy for EST not sure about those in LA. May watch the replay on this. My line-up goes. DDG AY Bailly Blind Shaw Carrick Tuanzebe Lingard Mhiki Rooney Martial I would like to see the top youth striker, the 2017 Keane or Rashford Darmain Bailly Blind AY Carrick Tuanzebe Shaw Rooney Lingard Youth Striker The D are the only ones we can't rest. If Timmy had been healthy, I would put him for Axel and replace Bailly with Axel.
@Deadtigers , that is been one of the issues with the U23 team this season. It's been a transition year and there are hardly anyone really ready to step up to the first team yet: apart from Tuanzebe and perhaps Willock, that's pretty much it at the moment. And their biggest problem is that they were weak upfront and they have no strikers like Keane, Fletcher or even Rashford, much less anyone even close to being able to fill in. And as far as playing Carrick is concerned, it's all well and good to want to play him but he just partook in a full match yesterday: do you really want to see him play another game this week? Not to mention he's probably going to be needed next week vs Celta Vigo as well? Carrick is 36 and we simply can't ask him to play 2, let alone 3 games in a week and expect him to perform: it's completely unrealistic. Would love to see Tuanzebe though, either at CB next to Bailly or even in a holding role as suggested. Upfront, if Jose wants to rest Rashford, he'll have to play either Martial there or possibly even Lingard. Would rather play Rooney in midfield, where he's going to be needed anyway, instead of upfront.
United plans to pay tribute this Sunday to the Nigerian fans who died while watching United play... www.bbc.com/news/world-africa-39744863
That is the problem, with crap rotation, selling the Sch's and not blooding youth. Faillani being conned into a red is especially annoying! Dumb ********!! And Timmy's injury is just Karma for Jose. Seems our health is in defense in a funny way so what about a 5-3-2 AY Darmain Bailly Blind Shaw Tuanzebe Rooney Herrera Lingard Martial I would love for us to even call Willock or maybe Williams (if available) I would do Darmain Bailly Tuanzebe Williams/Shaw AY Blind Willock Shaw/Lingard Rooney Martial I think you go with that and make it work.
Why would Jose go with 3 at the back when we are already short on CBs? Or simply, why would we play a relatively untested formation, with players who have hardly featured one way or another? Jose is definitely not about that. The most sensible way to line up would be with what we've seen the most this season and what the players are used to. And that is simply in a 4-3-3 or possibly a 4-2-3-1, given how short of midfielders the team currently finds itself in. More than ever, it's time to keep things as simple and basic as possible and not trying to be be clever when there is no need to be... With the personnel on hand and trying to keep I mind the Celta Vigo game, personally, this is what I would want to see: Dave AY. Bailly. Tuanzebe. Shaw Herrera. Blind. Rooney Lingard. Rashford. Martial The goal would be to try and secure the result as quickly as possible,. And make some changes as early as possible in the second half, notably Herrera, Rashford and even Bailly (as those are the guys who have done a lot of heavy lifting recently and are poised for a lot more in coming weeks). Won't happen unfortunately, but that is would I go for...
