Rio still not holding back: love it, as he's just speaking truth. Mourinho post match press conference. According to Fellaini, Mourinho reportedly told the guys to be men and just go for it...
This is far down the list of questions/problems with the team but I have to ask... Wtf is the fascination with McT? I guess Jose likes him because he's a big, hard worker that passes backwards and Jose gets to say he promoted a youth player. But feck me is he average. When I see him starting and AP frozen out it makes me furious. AP has more talent in his pinky toe than McT has in his entire body.
I think this take is correct... In amongst the fun of Utd winning like that, it's absolutely not good for McTominay's career to be used as a pawn by the manager to make a point to the board and other players. That's the reality of what's happening.— Enda Higgins (@endahiggins88) October 6, 2018
Another spontaneous appointment...there has to be a succession plan...agree over Dof but bringing Carrick just to sack him again isnt the solution..
Fabio Capello said he had a conversation with Mou during summer and Mou wanted board to buy Koulibaly of Napoli or Skriniar of InterMilan.Im not Jose apologist and i know he signed 2 Cbs which didnt work out but any well-organised institution would look for the solution, specially club of united stature, rather than re-address the failure.
still not sure how to feel about this hours later. pawn to E6. at this rate he will promote after the international break. you only hope that McTominay has enough sense to know that this isn't real or good for him. ideally Mourinho still goes. the season is probably a wash anyway. use the time to form a coherent plan
Just watched the extended highlights. Pogba had a significant role in virtually all our big chances. Was peripheral in the first half, but 10/10 for the second half.
He was only directly responsible for a couple chances but he held up the ball for Young's cross, hit the shot that led to the rebound Matic fluffed etc etc. He was very very good.
Good win and great second half performance, but it still needs to be put in perspective. Newcastle are a generally poor team and we should have dominated them from the off, if it weren't for poor team selections and worse setup/tactical choices. And that ultimately falls at Mourinho's feet. We can't ignore the deep rooted issues with the team (such as players regressing under Mourinho or being played despite performing poorly, among others). In short, this win can't paper over the cracks and it really doesn't change anything. We could be in for a rude awakening post international break, starting with the game at Chelsea at the Bridge. And especially with the defense as poor as it is at the moment (talk about a nightmare coming up vs this new look Chelsea side).
It doesn't have to Carrick but we need a Di Matteo or Grant to finish out the season while a DoF is hired and a long term manager signed. I just recommended Carrick cause he is in house but promote the Youth director for all I care. Just get started with the triage!!
MENs player ratings gave Pogba a 6 for being casual in the first half and stepping it up a little in the second. Martial was decent and Mata was class. Smalling was given a 4, same as Matic, Young better rated than them both. I don't know...
Young was rubbish bar one cross which sanchez scored ..Defensively he was responsible for both goals offensively he is liability.. the sooner Dalot is ready the better ..
Pogba by the numbers this game: - 111 touches - 90% pass accuracy - 81 passes - 6 total shots - 4 clearances - 3 shots on target - 3 aerial duels won - 2 chances created - 2 successful take ons - 2 tackles - 1 assist A pretty complete (and sublime in the 2nd half at least) display.
