We will need to be at it this game. Despite results, Everton's data has been ok. Well, put it this way, they aren't as bad as the results seem, their data isn't elite or anything, just a tad unlucky. We are going to need to score 3 goals to win this. Calvert-Lewin is going to give us fits and I expect to concede at least one goal from a set piece as well. To give an idea of the form they are in, despite the results, they've scored twice against pool, 3 times against Chelsea and once against Leicester. It would be a great achievement to keep a clean sheet against them. If we do, we're gonna win.
Fully expect a tough and physical encounter here, like the Everton of old. More than good enough to beat them of course, but if the game vs Chelsea this past weekend is any indication, we're going to have to earn this one. It's going to be a scrap.
I'd like to see this team for tomorrow's game: -----------------------Dave -----AWB---Lindelöf---Maguire---Williams --------------McTominay---Fred -----Greenwood---Lingard---Rashford -----------------------Martial Greenwood is more of a hopeful pick here, given that James will probably get the start after sitting Thursday. Everton are a team we are going to have to breakdown (only got 30% possession at home vs Chelsea). And we won't get the space we had vs City for instance, which is where James thrives. Greenwood was terrific in that wide right spot vs AZ (in the 2nd half particularly) and in this type of game, he's who I'd go with. If Lingard is not available, I'd probably go with AP in the hole but I think there could be an argument for Mata for the same reason explained above. Mata would be a plus because of his creativity and ability to pick out players but conversely, this is going to be a physical game where high workrate might be what is needed. Under those circumstances, AP might be the way to go. At LB, I went with Williams even if, as is the case with Greenwood, I think that Ole will go with Shaw. Just love Williams's grit, on top of what he contributes offensively.
I would like to see a midfield skinny diamond of McT at The base with AP on the left side and Fred on the right with Mata at the tip and Jesse a aub option. James, Greenwood would be the other subs. I also want to see Axel give Slab a break and partner with Iceman.
Unchanged lineup, today's the actual test. Will not be easy but no excuses, let's get it done. Everton's XI for today: Pickford, Keane, Mina, Holgate, Digne, Coleman, Davies, Iwobi, Bernard, Richarlison, Calvert-Lewin
This is going to be a different kind of test given how Everton lined up. There wont be a tonne of space. It will be clogged up. We will need more creativity than merely countering today.
Yes, I guess it's mutv for me tonight after work. Does anyone else have this problem, it is so slow it's almost like watching still motion because of the constant bunkering? I assume it's my slow computer, not mutv?
I watch mutv on firestick and it's fine for me. Yeah you need to upgrade from your Commodore 64. I could have stayed in bed for another hour. I've got a funeral to go to at 11 so showered, got dressed and sat down at the TV right at 9 and it's feckin Jose on.
I just googled and found a stream. Im in a resort in Montego bay and they dint have the rush channel in our rooms.
The Luke Shaw cycle. - Start the season injured or overweight - finally gets fit but absolutely sucks - 5 months later gets decent form, but nothing spectacular - get injured. Dont give a ******** if he's English, completely unreliable
Same old sh$$ - concede from a corner becaue of this god-awful zonal / disruptors marking. The disruptors again don't do their jobs and two Everton players arrive with momentum. The zonal guys do eff all. DDG gets nothing on it (had an arm on him so should have been overturned on VAR). Comes off Lindelof for an OG.
