Van Gaal did want Mane, if I remember correctly. Would not have a bad purchase in the least, in all likelihood. Good ball from Martial for Greenwood, who just misses. At least, we can't fault the effort from the boys. And except for a couple of phases, they really haven't been blown out the way it was expected to happen. And the result is still in the balance this late in the game.
Dalot finally back (for Shaw). Another player who clearly will be expected badly to step it up going forward for the remainder of the season.
Go ******** yourselves Pool! FT: 2-0, Pool. But honestly can not be overly harsh on the players today. The performance was obviously not perfect, but the players tried at least. And with all the players missing, there's only so much that can be done, I suppose. Pool are going to win the title but I hope that someone trips them up at some point. And for the love of God, no Big Double or a Treble for them: eff that!
Lol - kinda funny that they were hanging on at the end and that it took 2 gifts for them to beat our team of half second-string players What we had tried hard, especially Fred. Liverpool were distinctly average.
so were we. other than Pereira using the wrong foot and Martial's wild swing what did we create? the Fred chance was a turnover. i do agree he'd be my motm if i had to pick one
Expected the loss and honestly cannot fault the players for their effort. AP and Martial both had solid chances to score and they just couldn't make the breakthrough. It's fine. I'm over Luke Shaw, though.
This was expected for me. Due to shortsighted management we are limited in the players we have at our disposal. Apart from not starting Greenwood, we did alright with what we had available to us. Timid performance, lack of hunger, and didn't take our chances. Liverpool just better overall and can afford to coast, where as we don't have that luxury.
Fred was arguably our best player today: absolutely superb in hostile territory too. But still seen as nothing but mediocre in some circles. Can't shoot worth a damn, but that's not what he's there for anyhow. He does so much almost everywhere else though and leaves it all on the pitch. Against Liverpool, Fred ranked 1st or joint 1st among Man Utd players in:attempted passes (71)successful passes (59)final third passes (15)ball recoveries (13)interceptions (4)successful take-ons (3)tackles won (3)key passes (2)Man Utd’s best player today. 🇧🇷 pic.twitter.com/JRl7ym3qsM— Statman Dave (@StatmanDave) January 19, 2020 Can not wait to see what he'll be able to do as part of a proper midfield. He's actually made Matic half decent in the past few games and is literally carrying our midfield right now.
Only good thing i can say is at least the players are playing for Ole, we all know Ole isn't the answer as the manager but it really doesn't matter when Woody is running things and put out a squad like this.
Tell'em Pat! 🖥 VIDEO 🖥Roy Keane criticises Paul Pogba. Then, Patrice Evra defends Pogba and speaks more about the club itself.🎙“…when he's not playing people blame Paul [and] when he's playing people blame Paul.”Well done, Patrice!pic.twitter.com/cSjlQUtILn— UtdArena (@UtdArena) January 19, 2020 And Keane, like most of the Brit press, pundits what have you, just love targeting the foreign players. So predictable... 1218968531112472578 is not a valid tweet id
Learn to read: I clearly said "Keane, like the Brit press and pundits." It's typical and predictable from those guys hammering the foreign players at every turn while being nowhere near as harsh on English/Brit ones or just giving them an outright pass most of the time. Pogba's hurt and not even playing right now, yet, once more, he gets it. It was a bad miss from Martial, no argument there but to say it's representative of his United career and that he's not good enough? Yeah, that's entirely reasonable...
So Keane is one of the British press/pundits and Evra who is sitting next to him doing punditry isn't?
"They're the most direct team in the league. They do put teams under pressure. Play them long balls, second balls, corners."Despite falling 30 points behind Liverpool, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was encouraged by Manchester United's performance at Anfield. pic.twitter.com/XLdECVQq7A— Sky Sports Premier League (@SkySportsPL) January 19, 2020
MEN player ratings; 6 - Fred, Shaw, DDG 5 - Martial, James, Mata, Greenwood, AWB, Maguire, Williams 4 - Matic 3 - Lindelof 2 - Pereira https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/man-united-player-ratings-liverpool-17594548
how did James get a 5? he was one of the worst. likewise Lindelöf? i thought he had rocky moments but he got better as the game went on
Agree. James missed a few obvious passes and also didn't give AWB much protection (we were definitely weaker that side). AWB though was a bit off too and that also put extra pressure on Lindelof. Would give James a 3.5 and AWB/Lindelof a 4.
well difference in perspective makes the world go round and all that but Sky also gave Wan-Bissaka a 4 i think. same as Matić. while i think he's trash going forward and it's painfully obvious why he failed as a winger i don't think he was as bad as Matić. as reference, James got a 5 from them
Tbf would have resulted in a red card and made no difference to result , but still ... What dan james shoulda done to salah there pic.twitter.com/rP9WLzk6xa— William McPhillips (@McPhillips1888) January 19, 2020
