I suppose there is the semi-forgotten Wayne Rooney which I'd be OK with as long as it doesn't restrict Martial's minutes. Darmian back in as well. in defence i expect Blind despite recent struggles but i've said all along use Tuanzebe. he's built him up so much in preseason only to have him parked up. i think Fosu-Mensah has almost zero chance of game time sadly. i'd be surprised to see him. let's get some practice with a more dynamic attack and rotate as best we can with what we have.
-------------------------- Rashford Martial ------------------------------------------ Lingard ------------- Blind ----- Herrera ----- Fellaini Young ----- Tuanzebe ----- Bailly ---- Darmian ----------------------------- de Gea
Something no one has mentioned yet, if we score 3-4 goals in this one we could get back into goal differential contention. We are 4 off city and 5 off Liverpool with one game and two games in hand, respectively. Could be huge for the end of the season.
Easy there cowboy, I just want a win at this point. A win by a wide margin would be nice though. Would be even nicer if Rashford continued scoring and Martial got in on the party as well.
We would do well to keep in mind what lies ahead of us on the fixture list. However, if we win our last 7 league games (making it 9 straight to close out the league season) -- which means beating all of City, Arsenal and Spurs -- we've got a shot at the top four. We would have closed gap behind City to 1 point, although it's hard to see who they'd drop points to after us. After Burnley, we've got two league matches over the next 7 days -- City and Swansea.
Not to mention that Burnley are tough at home. Voakes possibly being out would not be a bad thing under the circumstances and provide some relief to our defense. Think it's safe to assume a close, scrappy game here and a win, any kind of win will do here.
De Gea Darmian Bailly Tuanzebe Shaw (probably AY to play with the minutes) Fellaini Herrera Pogba Martial Rashford Lingard I can definitely see Mourinho playing Blind or Carrick before playing Tuanzebe or Mensah.
You got to have a Miki in there, tired or not, he will be a goal threat. The chances are that Lingard won't score, Martial could have an off game after sitting on the bench for so long.
Agreed. But we've got player personnel problems right now and I don't see how running Miki et al into the ground in the run up to Celta Vigo accomplishes anything. Might as well play some of the whippersnappers where necessary to ensure we're at the fullest strength possible for the matches that really matter. This is no time to expect to be entertained. Defend, grind, score once, escape and go back to bed. That's all that be reasonable expected, and demanded, right now.
Confirmed squad members: Dave, Romero, Pereira, Darmian, Bailly, Tuanzebe, Blind, Shaw, Timmy, Carrick, Fellaini, Herrera, AY, Lingard, Miki, Martial, Rooney, Rashford
Not saying full 90 minutes. He was rested for Chelsea game. Maybe start with an offensive setup, score a goal and go 3 midfielders for the rest of the game.
----Dave---- Valencia--Bailly--Blind----Shaw -----Herrera------Pogba Lingard---Miki---Young -------Rashford-------- Something like that for the first half?
This is not going to be a game of finesse. Burnley are a rough and tumble type team who are tough at home very tough at home. We need to be ready for that. The team I would go for is something like this: Dave Valencia. Bailly. Tuanzebe. AY Fellaini. Herrera. Pogba Miki/Lingard Rashford. Martial We just played 120mins as well just this past Thursday, so there is that to take under consideration as well. Which is why Shaw wouldn't start. I'd rotate even more if it were up to me. Fellaini is in there as Burnley are dangerous on dead ball situations, with Keane among others and the height is needed.
I wouldn't object to Miki playing the full 90 against Burnley. I'm only suggesting that we calibrate player minutes to maximize our fitness when we meet Celta Vigo. We only drew Celta Vigo a few days ago but it's now the most important game of the season. Bag that prey and whoever we face in Stockholm will be our most important game of the season.
AY has delivered when called upon this season, so if Jose wants to play him, I actually see it as a good thing. Personally, hope that we'll see both AY and Martial playing together on the left tomorrow.
As I said on the Anderlect thread DDG Darmain Tuanzebe Blind AY Herrera TFM Lingard Faillaini Martial Rooney No one in that squad played the whole game on Thursday so they should be Fresh-ish
