Why? He looked fantastic at the Euros. Was probably the second or third best player on the pitch when we played Ireland.
I don't really have a reason for it other than he doesn't really want to play for England and seems like he wants to play for Ireland because he starts. I didn't think he looked that great in the Euro's tbh.
Spurs keeper Tom Glover is also apparently eligible for England. He was good last season - saved quite a few penalties. Since this article was published he's been called up for Australia's Under-20 team and performed well, so he's probably not one for England, but worth mentioning anyway. http://theworldgame.sbs.com.au/article/2014/09/21/australia-battles-england-rookie-keeper-glover
Nigeria sniffing around Ibe again! Hes one player we dont want to lose and need to keep hold of otherwise it would be a big dissapointment. However, I could be wrong but im sure I read not long ago about his commitment to play for England. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/liverpool-starlet-jordon-ibe-target-6201915
Who knows what Sunday Oliseh has said to him. Hopefully he wasn't too annoyed by being overlooked by Southgate for the Under-21 finals.
Lets hope not, I dont think it would be the first time that an England youth manager has inadvertently pushed a player to play for someone else. If Rogers has any influence over him im sure he would encourage him to keep going with England rather than risk losing him to the African Cup of Nations every other year which is just a pain in the ass around Jan/ Feb time.
DR Congo aproached Axel Tuanzebe a few times this year to get involved in their setup apparently, from what i heard elsewhere. Holds dual nationality. Don't think he's been involved with England at any level either so far due to not deciding.
One of the top prospects from the Spurs academy, Jack Roles from the 99 year group has been called up for Cyprus. Scored loads even though he's a former defender who now play a holding midfield role.
Did he use to play in defense? I thought it was a one off game. Thought he was mainly a CM/AM but have seen him play as a holding midfielder. Jack of all trades, can play many Roles.
I wonder if the FA have made any sort of contact with Jon Toral and his people about switching to play for England? I think he has an English mother and I wonder if an U21 call up isnt out of the question.
Yeah, I know he can but wondered if the FA had approached him about playing for us or even what his stance is about putting on the three Lions shirt?
Ive not seen him play lately but he has scored 2 in 2 for Birmingham plus think he did pretty well at Brentford last season so I guess hes doing well.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...-Grealish-commit-future-Republic-Ireland.html O'Neill seems confident he will opt for Ireland
I don't see why we can't call him up for the Euro qualifiers and start him against San Marino. Now that he's had our full attention now I can't believe he's still taking the Ireland option as seriously as he is.
The Daily Mail headline is misleading. There's nothing really in those quotes to suggest that he's confident of Grealish choosing Ireland. He was always going to say something like 'fruitful' or 'positive' or 'encouraging' as he has in the past. We can't call him up yet because he's not strictly eligible. All the paperwork will have to go through before he can play for England in the competitive game. He could play in the U21's friendly against the USA though...
Is Grealish injured? It's highly unlikely we'd call him up considering he hasn't even played this season. Although personally I'd call him up just to get him tied up for us.
I really don't think we could call him up for a competitive game even if we wanted to at this point. The paperwork hasn't even been started as far as we know.
