Phil Neville - "I have a vision that nobody else has. I’ve got bravery that no other coach has probably had. So, do you know what? Thank your lucky stars. I’m here. I’m here to stay. And I’m going to continue to keep improving. I’ve got a long way to go but I think with the set of players we’ve got and with my philosophy, I think we can go a long way. I live and breathe it, and I never have a bad day.” https://www.telegraph.co.uk/footbal...fends-record-england-manager-can-go-long-way/
It's a fine tradition, mad statements by England WNT managers - https://www.womensfootball.eu/forum/index.php/topic,8391.0.html Anyway, it's been a hell of a summer, so why not finish with one hell of a beating: Norway 2 - 1 England | Friendly, 3 Sep 2019 - www.youtube.com/watch?v=8vR6BZOKMfM Also possibly of interest - the FA Player is showing most matches from the new WSL season, online worldwide - https://faplayer.thefa.com The exceptions for UK viewers are the games on BT Sport.

Won 1-0 in Portugal to end the five game winless streak. Next up is Germany at Wembley and they've sold almost 80,000 tickets!
Phil Neville has apparently accused a reporter of ‘wanting to get him sacked’ in the press conference after the game. He keeps claiming pretty awful performances have been excellent displays. This might get ugly.

...I would'n't've normally started a thread, but someone asked. Also, thousands and thousands of people will be there to boo Neville. There's also a side-note where I ask what your favourite football cliché is, but just remember, you're only as good as your last post and it's a marathon not a sprint LET'S DO THIS England v Germany • 9 Nov 2019, Wembley • DAS MEGA-SPIEL https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/england-v-germany-•-9-nov-2019-wembley-•-das-mega-spiel.2107312/

Ah, Nev... barking instructions to mask the pain Next up is the SheBelieves Cup tournament against the USA, Japan and Spain http://www.thefa.com/news/2020/feb/18/180220-shebelieves-cup-squad-announcement-2020 And very important, Don't Mention the Olympics. Sorry I even mentioned them once, but don't even think about them. It's a distraction from this golden opportunity to reach the top of the SheBelieves podium by going faster higher and stronger, and then maybe meet the Queen and James Bond.

This coronavirus is HARUM SCARUM STUFF, Sue England Women: Lionesses donate to #PlayersTogether to help NHS during coronavirus pandemic - (BBC Sport) The women's Euros in England are moving back a year to 2022. Unfortunately, that summer is now being occupied by other, more drug-fuelled events (never thought I'd say this since I wept when Sally Gunnell won, but anyway ... f*** athletics!!) Maybe a May/June tournament would be OK? It's likely the 2021/22 seasons in European countries won't be as normal anyway. Euro 2017 in the Netherlands (Ailura, CC BY-SA 3.0 AT)
Phil Neville, deservedly, getting the boot - no great surprise considering how far backwards we have gone in his tenure.
Surprisingly, this week taught me that Neville's return to punditry can only be a boon to the lost art of football analysis! (As long as he doesn't lose his memory entirely.) ⬤ Women's Euro 2021 is now Euro 2022 - taking place in July of that year. https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/52371539 Semi-finals and final will coincide with the Birmingham Commonwealth Games, but that's the only overlap. Hope it's a great tournament, although the venue list (decided pre-2019/20) looks odd now – the FA were quite cautious with what stadiums they hoped to fill. Wembley will only host the final, and Old Trafford only the opening match. One semi-final is at Milton Keynes, welcome news for Marilyn Manson but also for MK Dons, who support their women's team well. Bramall Lane has the other SF, certainly a historic stadium in world football. But for those games, especially if England make it, could the venues seem too small by 2022? So Neville is to be replaced by Sarina Wiegman after the Olympics. Jill Ellis ended runner up apparently.
Im not that clued up particularly on women’s football but I find it a bit odd that someone as successful as Jill Ellis can end up as runner up?
Well considering England produces more talent than the Netherlands, yet they have gone farther than England have in the past two major tournaments says something about Wiegman's coaching ability.
An interesting appointment. Wasn’t really expecting this. Phil’s appointment was OK at the start but turned into a disaster. Main issues will be resolving the CB and CM issues. Hopefully some new faces are used and we don’t rely on the older options for stability under a new manager.
Jess Park really looks a player now. England have some great young attacking talents. Kelly, Stanway, Russo, Hemp, Park and Babajide. Beautiful assist from Jess Park. Perfectly, perfectly weighted. pic.twitter.com/u168XFsuTc— Joe Crann (@YesWeCrann) November 1, 2020

England play Northern Ireland at St George's Park tomorrow. Their first International for almost a year. 150th cap for Jill Scott! BBC are showing the game.
