its nice to see Rooney called up but I never really understood the meaning of these testimonials.

Being thankful and grateful is great but I mean it doesn’t help England prepare or develop players for the future. Especially if you are playing one game to showboat one player.

If anything I think it’s a setback and detriment to an up and coming future or potential national team prospect and to the entire squad. National team games are few enough already so they shouldn’t be wasting time on giving WR a final game and/or cap.

They likely figured that since WC 2022 Qualifiers haven't started yet, now is as good a time as any to give Wayne Rooney his testimonial game. :)

That is not too common. Most of the time the star player doesn't do all that much in their national team testimonials.

I thought the US were good tonight .. looked to have loads of young players on show .

I thought the number 10 .. was the outstanding player on the pitch all evening - Pulisic ???

US did squander several excellent chances. The youngsters were lively and not afraid to run at England. Pulisic showed off some great dribbling ability
