Chelsea accused of ‘hiding’ 11-year-old wonder kid 2 years ago In what is, undoubtedly, one of the strangest stories this week, Chelsea are allegedly emailing other Premier League clubs to warn them off signing their 11-year-old prodigy Emran Soglo, Sportwitness report. According to FootMercato in France, the club are so worried the youngster could be taken from them that they’ve started to play him in different positions in order to hide his natural abilities. Already scoring 11 goals and picking up nine assists in four games for Chelsea’s U13s, the young boy’s statistics are drawing a lot of unwanted attention, but the club’s handling of the whole situation has been slammed by Soglo’s mother who said that she 'can’t stand my son being hidden any longer'. All she wants is for Emran to play football normally like other boys his age, and explained money was never an issue. Chelsea’s behaviour is seemingly hindering the youngster’s development, and the family want out, which they’ve already told the London club. FootMercato explain Manchester City are allegedly very interested in the youngster, but a move to Spain could also be a possibility.
Not yet, no, but England have done this with various players in the last few years. He will when he's 16 if he stays until then.
Ye parents or agent, trying to raise profile of player. Makes me laugh when people do this, made too look like fools further down the line...
He is a very exciting prospect. Really liked what I saw when Blackburn played them last year. He played for 16s in the national qualifiers the other week I think looking back at the video footage.
Half the people who post on here don’t know the lads, they just say such and such a player is a prospect because they see how many Instagram followers they have . (Not aimed at Frank as celery you know some of the lads). I just think people need to becareful what they’re saying on these threads, as the parents of the players may and probably do read them. The lads are underaged still.
Yeah very true. I’m just going off one game at end of last season when Blackburn played them and I thought he was excellent. Hopefully he stays and develops with own town club and enjoys his footy. There has been various articles In local north east press about the lad as well bigging him up.
Some lads get exposed too early, but on the other hand some too late. Usually it’s the parents or agent putting them in the papers. There’s a lot of BS in football, even at this age.
Is there another U-15 training camp coming up shortly? Brighton and Hove Albion goalkeeper Tommy Reid has posted a couple of pics on instagram story suggesting he may have been invited to one.
