This is a way better balanced squad than the U21s. Good to see Godfrey there, but he plays as a defender for Norwich.
Ok, I’ll admit to not seeing him play this season but was just looking at Hirst’s stats and it’s not really good reading, only scored two goals all season, admittedly looks like a poor team he’s playing in or rather he can’t get in of late but does he really deserve to be in the squad at the moment? Surely there are other strikers who are worth a look at and then you have a talent like Marcus Edwards that seems to back on the right track in Holland overlooked.
⭐️ Kyle Edwards showed just why he's such a hot prospect on Saturday.🏟️ First league start for West Brom⚽️ Scores the only goal in a 1-0 win👌 And what a goal it was!!📽️ Here's the first of many crackers from the 21-year-old...@WBA #WBA @KyleEdwardo pic.twitter.com/Rb5xswnEr3— Sport on Sporting Life (@SLSport_) March 17, 2019
KO at 2pm today. Suspect there's been dropouts and new call ups that we'll find out about when a teamsheet is flying around.
Suspect we won’t find out the teamsheet until after the game! Our FA are a bloody shambles when it comes to giving out Squad details, streaming etc
Do you think Simpson has gone with what he thinks is his strongest team for this game or just gone for sharing playing time with the next game in mind?
That looks just about the strongest available bar the GK maybe and what the fook is Reece James doing on the bench ?
Yeah that’s what worries me, I mean if he thinks that’s his strongest line up with Reece James on the bench then he’s lost the plot and shouldn’t be anywhere near managing an England side.
Juni was right, we lost 3-1. Nketiah with the goal for us. We actually went 3-0 down. Obviously hard to tell how they played without watching it but on the face of it, it’s not a good result against the bottom placed team in the group.
funnily enough, was looking at some of them U18 squads the other day and thinking how weird it is that Feeney went from captain of the U18s, to not featuring as an U19. Especially when you consider just how many 99s have been used and how some guys like Suliman have managed to stick around no matter what.

Just looking at some of the coaching records. Simpson since the WC for U19s/U20s P - 20 W - 10 D - 3 L - 7 Scored - 39 Conceded - 30 Portugal are in U20 WC prep so have a strong side. Game at 6pm tonight could be a tough one. Simpson will get to bring a side to Toulon this summer, but really has already been given more than a fair shot. I know i'm just brushing the U20 WC win aside, but it's hard to know how to assess that.
Wilmot had a horrible 70 minutes. Can't see Tom Pearce playing for England much past the summer at Toulon if he goes. Fairly limited. England probably need to start trying out more left backs in the U20s + U18 especially.
Some terrible defending seems the norm across all the development age groups these days. It sometimes feels like we have gone so much the other way of concentrating on having ball playing Centre half’s that we have sacrificed the art of actual defending and having defenders that can actually defend set pieces and 1v1 situations.
Wouldn't lose too much sleep about it though, last 20 years it's the one position where we've always had top class players and with Stones Gomez we'll be ok for another 10 years.
