German sides without European football just don't play enough games for these loans to be sure things unless the player is a De Bruyne or Christensen definite starter. Only 34 league games + the German Cup. If there's no injuries, there's barely any rotation. The same thing happened with Burke at Leipzig last year.

Harvey Barnes deserves an U21 call. Bit harsh on him.

Maybe a reflection on the strength in depth we have at the moment?

Or maybe just showing how cautious and lacking in foresight Southgate's squad is going to be.

I suspect your theory is probably on the money as we will probably see Livermore in the seniors when we have better in the U21 that could/should have been promoted. We will know soon enough

So DaSilva and Edun trained with the seniors to cover for the pull outs.

Do you think promising players are better off going to play in the lower leagues or on the continent?

I think it's always a case by case basis. I think loan moves can often be problematic and permanent moves are preferable. Also think that for either loans or permanent moves, the lads need to try to get at their new clubs early in the pre-season.

Good for him. Was having a search around to see if he'd ever said anything about playing for England the other day. The increase in U18 + U20 football in the last few years has really been good for getting these type of prospects involved. I suspect Jacob Bedeau can't be far off a look at some level either.

I was wondering earlier if Willock was getting anywhere at Benfica. Seemingly not. He'll be 20 in January.

Does this read as to a fellow Portuguese top league team?

Losing 2-0 atm. Don't think we've been too bad. Started poorly but then settled. A bit aimless in the final third. Ramsdale with an error for the second goal conceded. Germany playing primarily on the counter.

We've completely dominated this whole half. Hit the bar but not really had the cutting edge in the final third all game. Ugbo only getting 15 mins from the bench feels harsh. Decent display overall.

What happened to Harvey Barnes, can't see that he's been involved or have I missed it, not watched all the game.

Edit: he just scored, lol. To be fair I've only seen the last 10 mins and been distracted

    What a goal that was!!

2-1 Brilliant play and lovely backheel pass from Edwards and cool finish from Barnes in the top corner.

Barnes came on for Willock with about 30 mins to go. I watch the whole game and miss the goal

I take your word for it as from what I saw we pretty much had all the attacking play and lots of possession so despite the loss, feels like you can take more positives. Edwards looked impressive yet again, seriously can't understand who Poch doesn't give him more of a go for Spurs.
